Sharing videos and experiences with DIY aquarium building.. Showing my previous Mbuna, and current South American fish.. Always trying to design natural looking, high functioning, and an on point environments. Thanks for watching and sub'n !
Thanks.. Its a very exact fit build, thats glued and screwed and sanded. A 6-7 coating of pond armor. It becomes an unbelievably tough and waterproof membrane. Roughly the thickness of a credit card. I tested a trim piece with 2 coating and a hammer, hitting screwdriver. didnt even make a dent.
Happened to my mates Texas cichlid netted him out put your thumb in his mouth and grip the lower jaw with your pointer finger and gently reset that's definitely dislocated if you don't act fast it will bruise up go all black an will be stuck poor fella
Hello.. Im going to do some videos soon. I completely cleaned and rustproofed and painted under car.I had all new American Autowire installed. Ive replaced steering and core support and inner wheel wells and all frontend and frame bushings. The engine is about to be assembled. Ive got the TH350 Tranny completely rebuilt and a new 3200rpm stall converter. Im taking out the stock 12 bolt rear and putting in a Quick Performance, Ford 9inch rear, that is being shipped in a week. Ill do an unboxing. I have all interior parts and shifter in spare room. Still lots to do. Thanks for asking !
@@FreeSwimmer oh for sure! I’m slowly getting the 3rd video together!! The heat in Michigan has been too hot lol like 100 out!! So my fish room is way too hot! 🤣
Hello. Yes, the kit tells how much coverage at said thickness. I like 2-3 extra layers and extra for touch up.. I actually experimented with 1st kit, many years ago. I laid 1 heavy coat on an unprepped plywood board. 8 inch x 8 inch. I let it cure for 24 hours and man was that tough. A screwdriver and hammer could barely dent it. I think it wouldve held water like that, just fine. Im just a 6 coating kinda guy.
I have restored several cars from the 1960s and 1970s and I know how much work it requires. In my opinion, leave the Oscars in the second tank. New fish will arrive and there will be chaos here.
I would put both Oscars in and watch them. Putting both of them insures that it wouldn’t be just one new fish put in for every fish to test, and also the 2 Oscar can give each other support.
You could probably get away with adding him because of size and temperament, but always need a back up plan. I find most time Oscars just ignore other fish and so their own thing
Hey freeswimmer, i seen in a prior video that you put the Styrofoam insulation underneath your plywood builds, would you also do it for a 500 gallon plywood build? With a 4x8 base?
I laid the 1" high density foam under all my builds.. Even the 1200g system. Its a habit I have.. I cannot say its actually needed with a big plywood build. The walls are less likely to come apart.. I simply like it that way. Its an extra $30 bucks maybe ?
Could be an air bladder problem with the Firemouth, seems like he's lost his buoyancy and relying solely on fin & tail functions to navigate. Could have been popped completely or partially perhaps. Happens sometimes in agressive style communities. It may right itself hopefully. Still eating is definitely a good sign. Love the tank btw 👍🏻
I try to do a little bit every couple days. Been mostly disassemble and organize so far. However getting fuel system installed from new tank to filter and electric pump through new fuel line and up to regulator with gauge. Its getting a new Holley 750 vac, thats in house on new air gap intake. When the engine is done and back in car, the fun really begins.
Did you try fitting the 3.5 wide rim w/ 120/70/21 with the narrow glide front end? I just ordered that setup I’m hoping it fits with out changing the front end 😅
Im seeing how they remind me of Mbuna. They just take shots at each other all day long. I have thought of putting Oscars back in now ? They are about 4 inches longer than the 11" Blackbelt.
I'm in the middle of building my 750 gallon plywood tank and I'm going to take a external threaded bulkhead lube the threads with spray silicone spread epoxy over the threads then install the bulkhead into the plywood and inject thickened epoxy between the bulkhead and the plywood to completely fill the hole. When the epoxy cures I simply remove the bulkhead and I will have a waterproof threaded bulkhead made from epoxy.
hmmmm..If I am using threaded bulkheads I just use teflon tape and tighten with effort. I like schedule 80 bulkheads because of strength. I usually always use new parts with each new build. Silicon should work, if Im following your plan right. Do video and explain..
Gotta be one of the nicest plywood tanks I've seen on RU-vid so far, not size wise, but craftsmanship of the build itself. I really like the front glass being one whole piece instead of two pieces like most builds over six feet, and the euro bracing is another plus.
Thanks for dropp'n by.. Its my 6th plywood build so far. I had the 1210g system running great for over 6 years and decided to have a smaller plywood build in dining room. I did much planning and tried to do details in this tank. Its big enough for my wants but still easy maintenance.
He was beaten to death overnight unfortunately. He wanted to be Boss and the others turned on him. I noticed it and he was hiding. 2 days later, he was dead. The Darkside of a Predator tank. He just showed stress and mouth damage from fighting, so I didnt respond immediately. He appeared ok in corner, so I felt he would recover.
Hello Dan.. I woke up this morning and found him on bottom. He had become a Tyrant Boss and was relentless on the bigger fish. Suddenly, he is gone. Sad ! Im kinda thinking the Vieja Synspilum got tired of his crap. He did the same thing with Red Oscar several months back.. I had seen him batter the Oscar and moved the Oscar. I didnt witness this and hoped the Texas would come around.
