Thanks! Pricing for Koa depends on the board, as the cost depends on the amount of figure in the wood. Feel free to give email me and I can send you photos of the boards that I have in stock with pricing. ken@WhippoorwillAcoustics.com
Yes, the Hickory is brighter and has gobs of overtones. Mahogany has some overtones in the midrange, but they are more subdued that those of the Hickory. I actually do have some Ash that I will use to build an autoharp some day.
Thank you! I did not use a pickup or amp for this recording. Rather, I played this into a Shure SM-57 microphone through an "Audio Buddy" interface into my laptop.
@@WhippoorwillAcoustics thank you for your kind reply. I am going to buy same you use to amply sound. Diatonic autoharp key of D sounds. You played so well so beautiful! You seem so confident first time playung👍
Thank you so much for recording this for me. It was wonderful. The Old Rugged Cross was so beautifully interpreted and the sound on the Ovangkol is beautiful too. Excited to make music unto the Lord like this, and praying I can learn to play half as well as you. This will be the gift that will keep on giving, thank you for making it for me and adding the beautiful Cardinal inlays, your work is impeccable. Just a note to everyone, if you are on the fence about purchasing an autoharp from Ken Ellis at Whippoorwill Acoustics, don't hesitate, you will be thrilled you did as his workmanship and attention to detail is amazing. This is a gift to me from my beloved pastor husband who just went home to be with the Lord, I know this autoharp will be part of the future and hope God is giving to me to play music for His glory.
My first luthier-built autoharp was a lefty that Ken customized for me. I purchased it about four years ago. It's one of my favorite 'harps. His work on tuning the body of he instrument makes a world of difference! It's a fine autoharp.
The autoharp is very easy to learn (that's the "auto" part). Just push a button and strum. But like anything else, it can take a lot of work to master.
Thank you! The autoharp I played in this video has already been sold. However, I would be happy to build one specifically for you. Please contact me at ken@WhippoorwillAcoustics.com and we can tailor an autoharp to your specific desires.
Thanks! The song structure is AABB. The chord progression for the A part is I-V-vi-iii-IV-I-V. For the B part it's vi-iii-IV-I-V the first time through and vi-iii-IV-I-V-I the second time through.
One of my favorite hymns on one of my all-time favorite instruments. It sounds like a bit of heaven to hear you play this. My son just survived a life-threatening illness and 6 1/2 hour surgery. It is by God's AMAZING grace that he has been spared for this heartfelt Mother as he answered my prayers and gave him to me once again. What Grace he has to care for me to give me the gift of motherhood and once again give me a precious son's life. Your playing is like listening to my heart's aching prayer come to my ears and heart. God bless you.
Thank you for your wonderful testimony. You have reminded me of one of my favorite Psalms: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103) And thank you also for your kind words of encouragement! Ken.
