@@ShawnTubbs This may be purely a selfish desire, but I'd love to see you do a video on mic'ing cabs/recording signal chains. Your demo's have great sounds.
Shawn... it's been ten years since this demo, love this pedal but know J Rockett came out with the V2 Bluenote Select. I've listened to your demo of this new version but...I like the sound of the older version from your videos better the newer one seems a little too dark. Did you feel more inspired with the older version? asking cause I'm getting one in a couple of days and can not decide.
Sounds like maybe some things were addressed to give it a more usable gain range. I found the G3 absolutely amazing, but pretty much anything past 10:00 on the gain in either the red or blue modes is just wayyyy outa control. And the low end gets squirrelly and loose. Seems like here you can get around 2:00, across the board, before it starts to push a tad too hard. I still sorta wish the gain control had a wider sweep from bottom to around there, at max. They’re incredible sounding pedals though… don’t get me wrong!!!
Thanks Shawn! These three sounds (off-blue-red) are different enough that the guys from Revv might want to consider adding an additional footswitch to change modes...
As always, thank you so much, man, for being so thorough. And your playing is always a delight to the Aural Sensorium! One question: I'm thinking of getting the IR-D, but I'm wondering how well you think it would match up with your Tilt Overdrive in front of it? The Tilt has become my favourite pedal hands down and I now use it for absolutely everything. So I just want to make sure the IR-D would 'play nice' with it. I always value your opinion on this stuff. Cheers!
Awesome!! Like you did in another video, these major triads you're using as "outside" reside within the diminished scale. The diminished arpeggio of E would be E-G-Bb-C#, thus we have within the E diminished scale, both the major AND minor triads of these notes. So any time we want a diminished color, using these triads instantly gives it! It's a very easy way to think of it.
You are definitely a; “One Man Wrecking Crew” SHAWN!!! When I really want to know what a real demo is, I tune into YOU!!! Damn, you set this on FIRE!!!🔥🔥🔥 I’m definitely checking this one out! Revv just keeps crashing through the glass ceiling, as you do with your fire breathing playing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍. As I’ve said in the past…. I will NEVER sound like you, but it won’t stop me from trying!
Excellent demo! I'm flipping back and forth between the Tone King Ironman and the Rivera Rock Crusher. The theory behind the compensation that the Ironman has makes a lot of sense to me. I've read some comments though that the Ironman may not be robust enough to handle attenuating a big amp. I would be using it with a '72 Marshall Super Lead which, I think, qualifies as a "big amp". I know you demoed it with a Super Lead, but how about for extended use? Any thoughts?
@@ShawnTubbs Actually, I did contact Tone King and this was their response: " So those old Marshalls have been known to push above 100W when you really crank them. I'd be cautious with hooking it up to an Iron Man. Without putting it on a scope and properly measuring it, I can't say for sure." KInda vague... The Rock Crusher is rated at being able to handle 120w.
Thank you for making this video. It's such a great break down of what the amp can do and your tone is absolutely amazing! The only thing that was worrying me is that channel 2 shares a EQ control with channel one but it looks like the added switch (brightness, wide) allow you to shape them further alongside the aggression functions. I'm looking to buy an amp where I can dial in a super clean channel, slight crunch channel and high gain proggy lead sound. Looks like this is the one for me!
Hi Sawn. I hope all is well. Sorry I have not chimed in for a couple of months; just recovering from spinal decompression surgery. I really missed watching and hearing you play. Killer track and playing as always. Cheers.
My playing has improved out of site. Just listening to this guy. U c if u want to improve u cannot listening to any one who cannot put it together. Or u will get bad habits . This is why i only listening to real players andy woods shawn. Ryan weiner with bret papa. And many other jonny hiland. Great show. My self got 2 fender black face with a kick ass pedal thats all u need. U have to have the valves cooking. Shawn frazings are one of my favourites
Man, this amp has the tone I have in my head not to mention the features. I am kinda a traditionalist when it comes to tube amps but for playing at home and jamming this has it all. Modelling hasn’t worked out and I have tried. Oh yeah thanks for using a cab, most amp reviews these days are with IR’s, not always a bad thing but I would be using it with both. Your playing is insane too 😮
