Looks a lot like the river Severn , I worked with two guys who fished the Severn at Frampton. Both grew up adding to their families income by fishing and shooting on the river. Lathe nets, and elvers , and eels geese, and ducks. Sadly both have passed away and their knowledge and skills are gone with them. God bless, Geoff and Dasher.
Brilliant but just a shame even the top of the range camcorder was poor. Would have been fab to see the actual shop names etc and I wonder what was on at the Cinema
Such a shame to see these methods lost, though it is very necessary. The damage was done long before even these days though, it’s a shame the impact it must have had on communities
I mind when auld Woodman there painted his boat dark grey so he could go shrimp poatching in the dark to far inshore. He was giving it to a wee burd up near the Weyroc. Haha
Always reminded me of the pretentious old men at the zoo, bull dozers did a good job here worked on the build with r and d studied 76/78 and 86/88 learned more at Glasgow uni and remotely at universities ; Harvard , university of taiwain, Tasmania, Hong Kong, Beijing ! I thought dagcot was deservedly extinct. Interesting to see it just before it was herried(old Scots)
Fabulous video. I wrote a song about a Solway Haaf Netter. Here's a live video version of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Xs5k_awXEg.html I'll record it next year and make a video - any chance of using some clips (fully credited to your video) on a video I'll make to accompany the song? I do wish those bloody lefty Greens would do something about this REAL problem, instead of blowing billions of other peoples' money on their silly religion of global warming.
The two worthies talking are, My Cousin Robert Aitchison(with the beard) from Annan, and his long time friend, George Chalmers from Back o' the Hill...Annan......A beautiful film about ordinary folk!!...J Mcm..
Fascinating gem of a video. The good old days. So sad to see what Conservative policy and heroin have done to the town I love. Place is full of bookies, jakey’s, junkies, neds and plastic gangsters now. If Dumfries is going to be saved it will mean Scotland breaking away from the ruinous Union and the social destruction caused by the Conservative Party. Sa’or Alba Gu Bràth. Thig ar latha.
When there was money in the town and hardly any heroin. Place is like a ghost town full of zombies now, which is sad. Don’t get me wrong I love the town, don’t love what the Tory bastards have done to it.
I'm from Merseyside and me and my mate were passing through Dumfries in the early 80s we ended staying for days friendliest people I have ever met my favourite pub was on the river nith called the joker best jukebox ever!
