I have two GH2 using for taking portrait photos. There are no issue on daytime, but its a bit struggling when taken portrait at night. I have to use prime lenses and adjust them to the largest aperture in order to lower the ISO. ISO 3200 is the limit when taking into account of using denoise app. I have G9 before but once I realised the ISO performance was not improved a lot at night, and the IBIS effect are similar to those lens OIS, I decide to sell it as GH2 can do similar job at very low cost. For low light espcially portrait photos, GH2 can do it if we not gonna zoom in or print at large size, but it's better use full frame which I bought one for it.
Wonderful montage James. I'm this close to picking it up, your presentation didn't exactly stop me. Still quite happy with the 40-150 plastic zoom but a 2.8 option is compelling.
Great video mate! I honestly thought that GF6's video capabilities were much more limited, cause my girlfriend has a GF7 and videos are so-so with that camera ahah again, great job!
Strange analogue-digital feel from this camera, like the last hurra of the old tube cameras. It has a bit of that early digital look you got from the Sony 1080i cameras of the early 90s.
Brother James . Hope you’re great ! Did some tests recently . Maybe you have done them too. Seems like the cleanest image I can get from the sensor is at 640 , while people claim it’s native ISO is 200 . Did you ran any tests ? Thanks !
@@jamomorrissey no , I wanna do more tests . It seems that the 400 to 800 have no real difference in noise , while 640 looks cleaner than both . Either way there is a caveat . 640 introduces a bit more chroma noise than the others . The worse was 160 which is the native actually . Will keep on testing . Cheers bro , will update !
Yes your videos give new life into GH2 and GH1. The price point from GH7 NZ$4,000 using the same lens on micro 4/3. Love your work with topaz. Let’s see how AI can take a GH1&2 with AI post production and show up the S9 and GH7
Yes I have GH1 and GH2. Loved learning on the first mirrorless cameras back in 2009. Now dream of using lens on a GH7. Dream. So your videos are great. Love
@@jamomorrissey Always a good strategy to find great used gear. I stopped looking for gear for the past few months because I sunk almost all my money into a S5ii + lenses. It's great but I love the challenge that old gear offers. Also, it's fun to find deals and try new lenses. Some M43 lenses I will probably never let go... still have many.
@CameraCombo absolutely. I recently bought the S5 II and I love it. M43 is too useful to get rid of and I’m glad there’s still m43 cameras and lenses coming out.
@@jamomorrissey Dehancer it's not magic stick you really good video footage to achieve good results in my own test 10 bit footage it's not good for really opening possibilities with Dehancer it's work well with 12 bit or higher otherwise you can not push image to far. Or you can convert to Arri log c even footage from smartphone which helps in grading a lot. Also Dehancer eats resources of your PC even with RTX 3060 it's slow down performance very quickly.
I have both cameras as well. Crop mood is awesome yet finicky at times. Fastest conversion is to CDNG and then into Resolve. Apple ProRes 4444 takes way too long on my system. Quick grade can be done entirely in MLV app, no need for DaVinci. I’ll dust off my GH2 and see what if it holds up. Any suggestions which GH2 hack to try ? Driftwood stuff or what’s your preferred one ?
Hot damn. It looks great. I've been playing with hacks again. Most recently I ported Sanity X onto my GH2. I like it a lot, but only Cinema mode (24fpa @1080P) wants to work properly. Did you download Orion from Personal-view? Do you have a link, by chance?
I’d say probably better suited for the GH5 than the GH2 thanks to its anamorphic capabilities, but the adapter will work regardless of camera as it’s the lens that takes the adapter. You will need to make sure the lens is no wider than 35mm FF as it will vignette heavily.
Purchased a G6 myself recently - been pretty great for me to be honest! Using the kit lens currently but will pick up the panny 14mm 2.8 next pay day I think Using it purely for RU-vid so not overly fussed about 4K and so on! Nice review!
Hi James. That was interesting, thanks. I am just trying a Helios 44M and 135m set up for anamorfaking, probably on a Sony FX30, so it was good to see what you did with your similar lenses. I am new to this 'cinematic look' thing with vintage lenses, and it seems to be a difficult balance between making a shot full of character and one that just looks flat. Some of your close-ups look amazing. What would you say was the secret to getting the best out of vintage glass?
Thanks for your comment. Not all vintage lenses are made equal so do your research. Then understand any flaws of the lens and any cool characteristics of the lens to get the best out of it. Also, stick to the principles of videography.
