This is a nice add on but at $300 plus, that brings the cost of the mixer to aroumd $800 or more. That's getting into Ankarsrum territory, which already comes with stainless and probably a bit more power and build quality. I have a used vintage Bosch universal that was less than $100 and works well but... the plastic bowl and lid flex enough with large loads that the lid pops off. Wad hoping for a cost effective solution. Does the lid stay put with the stainless bowl?
I were just on a shopping investigation for that to get a suitable machine for my needs (baking bread first and formost). Amongst others I found all the Bosch MUM series while checking all the specified bread doughs weight capacities in cross brand and models comparisons. Most standard duty home market price range machines only guarantees bread dough weights usually less than 1 KG of flour (add water ++ to 1 Kg flour and you will most usually exceed their guaranteed load capacity). Thats 2 small breads worth, our market over the pond typical "mix kit" sales is 1 Kg flour size. MUM 2 Specs; 1,7 KG. MUM 5 specs 1,9 KG. Do you see lot of people destroying their smaller machines on guarantee void overloads ? As in, how tough are machines like these typically, compared to manufacturers written limitations ? Ought I rather put on fire a 1200 dollars worth, in a more professional aimed Kenwood like kitchen monster creature ?
It WAS a 650-watt mixer 5 years ago when this video was made. Now they are 500 watts, but that seems to be enough for whole grain especially if the dough is not too stiff. (I always use a high-hydration dough, so am not concerned about that.)
Our Bosch has going strong for over 20 years. My daughter and wife got a kitchen aid because "they look pretty". I warned them. After a year the motor burnt out on it. Bosch still going strong.
This machine also kneeds the dough faster than Ankarsrum for example however I agree with your wife and daughter, pretty machines has a place in the kitchen but this machine you'll have to hide.
It does seem to be very noisy.I don't expect a breadmaking class on a review. It would have been better to show the rest of the paddles and attachments. We want to know what we are getting for our money, I am not interested in cinnamon buns.
has this machine been just as capable as the bosch? I am trying to decide between the stainless steel version of the bosch or getting the artiste with an extra stainless steel bowl. pricewise they come to around the same. the benefit of the artiste option is having 2 bowls and i dont need the blender hub. im more worried about themotor and size comparison (foot print)
This is the best video demonstrating the Bosch mixer! I’ve searched and searched and so glad I just happened to have stumbled upon your channel this morning! Thank you so much.
I Have almost the same and I'm happy the problem is as you show when you turned on bottom the white round plastic can connect to machine is broken how I can get it Tks for help
Just found your channel while searching for Bosch Universal mixer videos, new Bosch mixer here! I really liked your pita video . . . Never saw them baked before and am going to give them a try. Thanks again for sharing your recipe. Now I’m off to see what else you’ve got up on your channel!
I inherited my mom's Bosch UM3 machine. It has the shredding attachments but the box says only use with metal bowl. I don't have the metal bowl. Not sure if she ever did. Do you have to have that bowl to use the shredding stuff?
I am planning on getting a Bosch in the next couple of months and I can not WAIT!! I have a big heavy duty Kitchen Aid but I hardly use it because it's too big to fit on my counters (too tall to fit under the cabinets) and it's so heavy I'm reluctant to get it out! Then when I DO use it, it struggles to handle even just two loaves! After talking to a good friend of mine who has a Bosch I've decided to make the switch. Since my kids eat bread faster than I can make it hopefully this will help me get ahead!
