At every show featuring synths, I find a DSI/Sequencial or Moog. And in rare cases there's some other synth, it often is one that uses specific technology developed by Moog or Dave Smith.
I like the whip feeling of this bass line and that’s what I’m looking for. I don’t care if it’s with analog equipment or plug-ins but I definitely want it for some industrial music. I’m working on currently. I like it because it goes with some of the drum patches I created that are not bass heavy so when you mix that whippy sound with the drums I created, it creates a really whip-like movements in a song.
That "Happy Birthday Dave" from radiohead on their poster just goes to show how much that man has brought to the professionnal music industry. True legend !
I lived in SF 12 years too bad I never got to meet or see his studio. I didn't find out about him until I discovered the unique sound of the WaveStation.
focusrite probably paid $500,000,000 for Sequential. it will take them decades to get their money back before they even start making a profit (if they ever do)
I feel like Dave built this synth especially for me. It’s truly the greatest analog poly within a stretching reach of the average consumer. If I hear a sound from the OBX or any other synth I can always dial it up and if I don’t nail it completely I get damn close. Wonderful synth and I’ll never sell mine.
I'm a little late to the party but I just got this. Surprisingly good. I like that you can remove the mechanical part of the sound. Tho that is realistic to the original instrument, I always tried to minimize that with the real thing back in the day. Certainly the real instrument has it's charm, but the plugins have their own charm as well. Bottom line is I will be using this for sure!
The interviewer has a very feminine voice... buttery smooth, soft... sonorous, and yet lilting... conveying a sense of vulnerability and innocence, even as it seduces... a veritable kiss in the desert at midnight...
What a true Pioneer. In addition to his famous synths that changed the world, he invented the midi protocol that is still in it's 1.0 revision even to this day.
How can I get the Prophet 08 sound bank loaded on my Rev 2? Supposedly it can be used in the Rev 2 also, but I can't find the presets. Are they on the Dave Smith website?
Wow what a fascinating look at how Dave sees his own product line sheesh - this is where the internet really shines!! Dave should have gotten the job of scoring Stranger things … would be even better
