When I was working at Kurzweil, I have a memory of this guy coming in to to do a review for the Forte. He was an awesome keyboard player and definitely knows his shit. I will never forget this guy's voice either.
That "Happy Birthday Dave" from radiohead on their poster just goes to show how much that man has brought to the professionnal music industry. True legend !
What a true Pioneer. In addition to his famous synths that changed the world, he invented the midi protocol that is still in it's 1.0 revision even to this day.
I lived in SF 12 years too bad I never got to meet or see his studio. I didn't find out about him until I discovered the unique sound of the WaveStation.
I started to have interest in DSI gear from when I first heard YMO and learned that they were using SeqCircuits Prophet.. thanks to YMO I am now into synthesis, sequencing ,programming etc etc and about to put some money down for Prophet REV2 desktop module. This guy is my hero...
I got a Sequential Multi-Trak shortly after they came out around 1985 or so. I loved it, but over the decades lost it. Recently came across one for sale near me and had to go grab it for $700. It was I felt better than the Prophet 600 with several additional features and MIDI built-in. I actually like the color scheme, along with the separate audio outs which correspond to the 6 tracks of the sequencer, but if you plug a cable into one of the audio outs, that track is removed from the main outputs, so you can audio process some tracks. It was/is a powerful synth, easy to program and still totally hip. I love mine. Thank you Dave!
Hey Gary...yeah, I liked the Multi-track so much I got 2! Still have them, although I’m an iOS synth guy these days. It is a powerful beast...that you can tweak each oscillator/voice individually and the stack them into one big, fat monophonic voice...nothing like it. ✌️☕️🎩🎩🎩
HatredPrime haha I thought the same thing. Have you seen that photo of Alex Jones in that studio with like 303s and 808s behind him saying he was working on tracks?? Lol weird stuff.
Wow what a fascinating look at how Dave sees his own product line sheesh - this is where the internet really shines!! Dave should have gotten the job of scoring Stranger things … would be even better
