natashatheresaYT@gmail.com - My name is Natasha and on this channel, my aim is to provide you with a little glimpse into my life as a minimalist wife and mommy. I’ll be sharing with you things that work for me and bring me joy. Along the way, I hope to put a smile on your face as well :). Here's to simple and intentional living! @ProsourceFit Ambassador
Since I cannot afford it, I pick up a small overbed table and place it on the floor, and stand up occasionally. unfortunately I get too much neck pain while sitting without support on my back. I loved the desk though!!
I got a secondhand Ikea desk after that Thoughtworthy Co vid. I love this way of working. Though I will say that if you need hours of deep work I still find myself slouching in front of a computer. If I try and do the constant movement I distract myself from the work I have to do. Anyway, it's better than chairs 100%
As a fellow adult Lego collector I wouldn’t get rid of Lego if I were you. They are considered collectors items rather than toys. I suggest putting them in storage and selling them. They’re worth a lot of money. Thank me later. Biggest mistake my parents could have ever made throwing our toys away growing up. All my old toys are worth thousand of dollars and even millions now. To think they threw away millions of dollars is crazy.
I’m so glad you introduced me to this. Thank you! Had no idea they existed! And it’s way less expensive than I expected, praise be💃🏾 I am curious to know your height and/or if you think it’s tall girl friendly!? I’ve never had a standing desk. And happy belated birthday ♥️✨🥳
Hi I’m 5’9” and when I have the balance trainer under me it adds around 5-6” to my height. The desk went up high enough to accommodate me with the trainer, probably that’s 1” below its max height of 47”. Without the balance trainer I have the desk set to 40” height. Yeah I had no idea this existed until I did research and I’m glad I found it!! Thanks for the greetings and for watching! Let me know if you end up getting it!
I’ve never heard someone else express my thoughts out loud before…I know this isn’t the most popular video but I feel like I was meant to watch this video or something. I was considered gifted in school and I went to college and got a job a motion graphics designer which I didn’t hate but what I did hate was corporate and I also hated being paid 24/hr after having a degree. My husband and I want to try for babies and have the exact same thought processes as you in regards to homeschooling, as well as in minimalistic thoughts and also following our passions as a means for income rather than the degree. We have a real estate company but we haven’t had time to actually do anything with it but we just literally quit our jobs and we’re running off to Canada for the summer and Mexico and we will give birth in Mexico, gods willing, as a way to afford a better life for me and our future family….i don’t remember the point of this comment I just say all this to say that this video REALLY touched me and please just keep doing what you’re doing, follow your heart because you’re really helping people. I just saw you got your first sponsorship and I’m sure that external validation was huge! I just got my first sale on my Etsy shop after 2 weeks and although it was $3 it really made me feel like I didn’t make a mistake by quitting my corporate job. Tldr; thank you for being you and I haven’t resonated with someone like this irl, ever. You’re like the big sister I never had!
Thank you for sharing your story with me, it’s nice connect with kindred spirits out there, super thankful for RU-vid bc of that! I’m excited for you and all you are planning to do!! Congrats too on selling on Etsy! Yes this has been a wild ride for both of us but we are meant for more! So keep doing what you are doing too!!! ♥️♥️
Recently i have realized that i sit on office chairs for about 10 hours at least each day. So if i sit on the floor while WFH then i can at least be mindful of my posture as i know i will sit initially but lay at the end so while i lay, i take a little walk around.
Ive had a futon couch forever .. i got tired of fixing it as it kept shifting on the frame and i also would occasionally bump into the wood.. so awful 😖 i just threw out the frame and put the pad sideways as a shorter loveseat pad on the floor with pillows. I want to turn my living room into a real living room and use my exercise equipment as well.. its been shoved into a corner for years. Time to move!!
@@natashatheresaI'm also a massage therapist that used to work corporate for 20yrs so I definitely agree with the movement we need in daily life. I have also worked on my laptop on a side table while sitting on the floor for many years and I used to think it was bad for my back, maybe the table is too high for my arms, but yes it definitely encourages me to change positions constantly. When I need to focus I take it to the kitchen table. Learning about others being Furniture Free is refreshing and now I realize my lifestyle is actually more healthy for the long-term. I also feel this will improve creativity and productivity. I think couches encourage doom-scrolling as I had a habit to do that on my couch. That's also very bad for vision.
I think pillow mountain is a great idea! It’s probably more affordable than a couch, may look very original and cozy and is such fun way to organize common space! I love it! (and yeah, I always cut this thingies of, but I also make photos of them to know how to clean it etc)
How do you install the rings? Did the ones you buy come with instructions? I have gym rings but no ceiling mounts so I just have them attached to my pull up bar for now but I would love to have them directly on the ceiling instead!
I found the ceiling joists with a stud finder and bought some mounts (link in description) and bolted them directly into the ceiling joists. Each mount is rated to hold up to 600 lbs
You will definitely keep floor sleeping! I still have a four inch trifold memory foam mattress that I started with, and sometimes I feel like I need more cushioning after the inevitable poor nights sleep, or when I'm extra sore from physical exertion. I will pull it out for a night and 100% of the time I wake up with a pain in my neck and uneven hips that require constant attention just to get through the day. Then I go back to my futon mattress the following night and wake up well rested and pain free, vowing never to do that again. I recently had the experience of thinking I may need more cushioning and I kept my vow: no thank you. Anyway, you did a phenomenal job with this video, it's very entertaining and I really enjoyed watching.
Thanks for sharing what works for you! Yeah I will be making an update video soon, I am definitely still on the floor and am happy I don’t wake up with any cricks in my neck like I used to with my purple bed. Glad you enjoyed the video and happy to have you here!
Actually sitting on the ground make you bend your knees more often and that is the risk of osteoarthritis due to mechanical load on knees' cartilage, But as an asian I'm bending my knees even when sitting on a chair. (Bring my legs up and sit like l'm doing meditation to feel more comfortable😅) It's not polite in public but when I'm home I can't resist. I will have to accept OA knees later on, so now I do quadriceps exercise everyday beforehand 😝
Thanks for sharing! Something to also consider - there are Blue Zones in Japan where everyone lives longer and are more sprightly, and they do floor sitting for meals and all that good stuff too hahaha
Oh my God, I love you! Your energy and how you deal with sort of negative comments... you are an inspiration! I had a few tries with floor and standing desks with treadmill, but not interchangeable one! This desk is perfect ❤
40? You look 28 mam. You look great! I'm checking out your channel and this minimalistic thing seems cool. Thank you for commenting on one of GoHerpings videos.
@@natashatheresa oh yess I did :D but that thumb-pose is not for me - yet 😅 love your vids, we seem to hang on a similar wave-length😜 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-43SPSO6nwA4.htmlsi=g8r46ZnKuhQpkSRI
Oh shoot she said pickleball, am I watching a fellow Ohio gal! Hopefully!! Also I love that you have a shoutout to having kids! Goals 😊 . God bless you and your family !
@@natashatheresa I saw it, that would be cool too, but I think I’d mostly use it for a floor desk. Hmmmm, I could look for a coffee table I could saw legs off of
Yes I truly believe on not Telling people your dreams. People can poopooo on it I just subscribe because I am almost 40 and I just started my youtube channel and am looking forward to this journey.
Love your enthusiasm and congrats on getting a sponsor! I remember seeing the crowdfunding of this desk years ago and always had it on my want list, but I it got too expensive when it finally released. I currently have a sit to standing desk for my computer and a big Korean folding floor table for when I do crafting and art. Maybe one day I'll get this desk to make a more cohesive workspace, hopefully your code will still work. haha
Awwwww yeah it’s a big change for sure. Maybe you can buy a little one and see if it works for you lolll, not that I’m saying don’t share a bed anymore but if you do have some back issues maybe you can try it out
I have thought about it but want to make sure it’s easy to clean bc it will be one more thing to worry about! Do you have any suggestions for where to get a decent rug hahahaha
@@natashatheresa definitely look at their more premium options though. My dad bought one and it was really thin. You definitely want the thicker rug pad!
The best position is tge next position I like that 😊 I actually started to realise I was uncomfortable, aching when I was listening to you & started moving & stretching, thanks for the inspiration & Happy Birthday for yesterday Tasha 🎉😊
