Hi, I'm Marina - an art & history writer, artist, and an ever-curious mind.
I am also the soul behind the art history discovery app called Smart Art - Art History Escape.
Here you will find video essays on enigmatic historical figures, mysteries, facts and legends of the past, often inspired by the [not so] fictional characters and myths from popular culture. I hope you enjoy it!
As an avid Agatha Christie fan of both video and audio books (rapid eye movements cause reading difficulty), Hugh Fraser is like a close, personal friend that I invite over to my house on a regular basis.
Thank you very much for featuring the life story of Margaret rutherford she 2as the best miss Marple ever thank you to the narrator for posting this video rip 🙏 🪦 😌
Marina, I do love Mrs Ariadne Oliver ❤❤❤ Do you have any programmes about Her❤️❤️❤️Zoe W. Is my beloved actress ❤❤❤Her Mrs Oliver was just delight ❤❤❤❤
Hi, Olga! Thank you so much! Yeah, I do have a video about Ariadne, find it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N4HDQYWzLu8.htmlsi=j0bc1p-uKPxHFxXS And my next video next week will be about Zoe Wanamaker!
I love David Suchet and I’m glad he’s a Christian but I wish he did a recording of the King James Bible because that’s the most accurate Bible Version.
Though I love them all, she is my favorite Miss Marple. I think she's the Miss Marple that would like me the best, too. I'm not a AC purist, so I don't mind her creativity with the character.
Hugh Fraser is a wonderful reader, and is the best at narrating Agatha Christie. His audiobooks helped me get through a broken ankle with surgery, a plate, and screws, with my sanity intact (well, mostly). Thanks Hugh! 😘
I remembered there was a movie where Poirot and Marple crossed paths. A little research and I got it, 1965's ABC Murders Tony Randall and Margaret Rutherford
Ah ....Captain Hastings. The good pld days...... when Englishmen were Englishmen and the rest of the world did as it was jolly well told! And an Englishman would certainly never use 'season' to describe 'series' ;-)!
I could never understand why Poirot had Hastings as a sidekick. Bumbling yes. An asset? No. Poirot required a sidekick who was more competent. More intelligent. Who possessed knowledge that Poirot didn’t have. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Joan Hickson indiscutiblemente. Incluso su aspecto físico parece la reencarnación de Miss Marple. También me gustaba mucho Margareth Rutherford, muy divertida pero lejos del personaje de Agatha Christie.
nice video. really love the color pallet you choose for this video. Can't believe you did not include some of his famous lines, in particular : 'i'd say" He was to me what a man of leisure would be like. Hastings must of had money because he was always buying nice cars. didn't seem to lack for money.
Before watching this video I just saw Zoe Wanamaker as Ariadne Oliver in the episode Elephants Can Remember (1981). I first saw Zoe Wanamaker on Broadway in Piaf (1981) as the character Toine. Jane Lapotaire was Piaf, and she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. I have been a fan of Zoe Wanamaker since then.
Well done ❤-- FYI his wife Belinda Lang was a *wonderful* Agatha Troy, the artist muse/foil for Patrick Malahide's Inspector Alleyn from the mysteries written by Ngaio Marsh.
Those two were always meant to work well together. I love watching the older Poirot episodes and the chemistry they had with each other. It’s a lovely friendship they had both on and off camera ❤❤❤
I don't know if it comes with getting older, and seeing friends come and go, but watching the lifelong friendship of Poirot and Hastings (and Suchet and Fraser), and how deep and true it is, brings tears to my eyes. So beautiful, and so needed for all of us
Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I especially enjoyed seeing the clips and photos from his other roles!! Thanks to Poirot Hugh Fraser has become one of my favorite actors but living in the US I was not familiar with many of his earlier roles. Talent, looks, and that amazing voice! I just love him!!!
It's amazing how much people are willing to overlook if the character's looks match their imagination - Suchet's Poirot is not Poirot, Miss Lemon is not Miss Lemon, Hastings is too smart, but he's still the closest of the three. And those who adapted the books for the series did a terrible job - ignoring important clues and adding idiotic comic relief moments and non-existent Poirot's character traits. I wonder how many of the so-called "fans" actually read all the books.
Marple, the gadabout sleuth..... Poirot, the territorial grouper. Love them both. Dang, now I have to cue up Goodwin's theme, though Sherrer sure gave him a run for the money later.
