Best dresses and scene imageries for the Norma Shearer film - so beautiful to watch

In 1934 there was a movie put out called Madame Du Barry and Anita Louise played the role of Marie Antoinette (it was a small role..but was pretty good). Delores Del Rio played the role of Madame Du Barry. And that's really interesting because 4 years later in 1938 Norma Shearer played the role of Marie Antoinette and Anita Louise played the role of Princess Lamballe. But yes I think that my 6.favorite portrayals of Marie Antoinette are 1.Marie Antoinette 1938 Norma Shearer,2.Marie Antoinette The Shadow of the Guillotine 1956 w/Michele Morgan,3.The Affair of of the Necklace 2001 with Joely Richardson as the Queen,4.Marie Antoinette 2006 Kirsten Dunst,5.Farewell My Queen 2012 Diane Kruger and 6.Marie Antoinette 2022 with Emilie Schule. And Nina Foch in Scaramouche 1952 (but had she such a small role that I'm not counting it in on my favorite portrayals)..but I love Nina Foch as an actress. And I can't wait to see this new Jean Du Barry 2023 with Pauline Pollman as Marie Antoinette. Now if I had to pick just 1 out of the whole lineup of favorites,it would have to be Marie Antoinette 1938 with Norma Shearer due to it's incredible history..the other's are good, but not so historically accurate as the 1938 one is in my opinion.

I found your examination of Marie Antoinette's life fascinating and appreciate your take on the historical accuracy, enlightening. I always wondered just how accurate the depictions of her life are and thought most of them more fantastic than realistic, now I know what to look for when I'm watching. Thanks for your insights !!

Love your videos, so interesting and I always learn something. I was initially disappointed in the Sofia Coppola movie as the book it is based on, I thought, was so detailed and moving but I agree with you Kirsten Dunst was amazing and the movie takes you on her 'journey' from a young foreign princess to hated Queen. Many thanks for another great video.

I haven’t seen the new film yet or the other film with the German actress with the controversial relationship but loved Kirsten in the role & was actually surprised she portrayed the transition of the young girl to queen to prisoner so eloquently. This is how I also pictured the real queen & not as the self absorbed monster she has been portrayed as in the revolutionary 😢 On another note I know I’ve seen you in something else, not on this channel. It would predate the channel, your voice & face are memorable from whatever it was I had seen but cannot put my finger on it! Did you have a travel blog before on IG where you lived in your vehicle or traveling around Europe by yourself? Maybe with your dog? I know I’ve enjoyed content you created prior to these videos. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thank you for your work!

Hi, @gunnybunny4081. Oh, no, I never lived in my vehicle and have a cat, actually 🐈‍⬛ It's curious though! I did have another tiny youtube channel about art collecting years ago (it is still available in youtube), and my IG is also dedicated to my art/art advisory side - perhaps, there? Anyways, happy to see you now here!

@@marina_via I haven't seen the Du Barry movie yet, but Pauline Pollmann has an amazing resemblance to the young dauphine. My favourite movie-Marie Antoinette is Ute Lemper in L'Autrichienne (although the flash backs to the Versailles days are not so good in terms of costumes and likeness). I adore the Michele Morgan movie and of course the Coppola one (I totally agree with what you say). I dislike Farewell my queen. There are many more movies features a Marie Antoinette persona. Most of them are really bad. Have you ever seen Emmanuele Beart as Marie Antoinette?

In Les Jupons de la Révolution (what a title by itself, adore!)? No, unfortunately, not yet. Yet, I saw it had quite plausible critique, would you agree?@@queridogideon

It's not super good, but it has a very special place in my heart because It's the first movie I saw about Marie Antoinette (I was like 13 years old).

My favorite version of her is in the 1956 French movie by Michele Morgan! it's the only one I can say close to being accurate and can capture all sides of her! Every other Movie of Marie Antoinette is either extremely romanticized or dramatized, or as popular culture, especially in Sofia Coppola's movie, an alive breathing Barbie doll of 18th century! in Michele Morgan's version, she not only captures the view of Marie Antoinette which created future stereotypes, but also gives her humanity and shows that she's far more than just a candy doll, she's also a human with emotions, negative or positive, attitude which all of us can somehow feel relate to, her stubbornness which fortunately wasn't modernized, making her look annoying and instead showed her polite and kind, even towards those she obviously dislikes and the soldier who kept an eye on her while she was changing clothes! I know that movie didn't portray every single thing that happened, but Marie Antoinette in it, was much better-written character
