19:26 My only gripe really is that its a massive seemeless world and goes full on the immersion by having no loading screens a lá Cyberpunk. But then it does the black screen fade out when docking. And it doesnt allow you to use the elevator back up to Golden Saucer. I get that its just fading to black because of reloading the NPC/party location when docking. And that the loading screen when entering Gold Saucer is because you’re technically fast traveling bar that one time where you take the elevator down. But its a tiny detail they could have added to fully drive home the point. Its still there in the end. The openworld and all. But its a 1% bummer off otherwise 99% FF7 world map immersion.
You absolutely nailed the need for the identity of the series. You absolutely nailed the need to use the 7R saga as the template for mainline FF going forward. You absolutely nailed how each title can be different from each other even though they're working from the same framework. We've already seed the franchise do this while working with ATB as the skeletal framework with IV-IX. Each title felt familiar had things we would expect from a FF title while also giving the devs plenty of room to experiment and be creative within that identity. And while X was different it at least felt adjacent. This franchise absolutely needs an identity. It absolutely needs to use the 7R saga as its gameplay template. Reinventing the wheel each time out simply isn't working.
I really liked Rebirth till the end, when the game shit the bed, and try to do fanservices and do an emotional moment at the same time, that lose any kind of sense, the game was so good till that moment, but no they have to do stupid fanservices and mud the water so is not clear if Aerith is alive or dead.
She's definitely dead in the "real" world. Whether she's alive in another world, a hallucination of Cloud, or Jenova/Sephiroth manipulation is for now, left open to interpretation.
We can't grieve for her yet, because Cloud hasn't grieved for her yet. I think this will be a big plot point for part 3. Accepting the loss, and letting go. It will make for a huge payoff I think
I actually loved the abundance of mini games and optional goofy content. Brought back pleasant memories of playing classic collectathon platformers like Banjo Kazooie, Jack and Daxter, Mario Sunshine, Donkey Kong 64, etc. I miss when games used to have dozens of unique minigames and genre changes within a single game.
Calling it now, and I'm sorry yall, but FF7R-3's Weapon fights are gonna be glorified cutscenes, akin to FF16's Eikon battles. They'll have a completely different combat system than the rest of the game(if we're lucky, more likely it'll be QuickTime events)
My guy really complains about the pacing of VII while claiming Remake to be his favorite game of all time... a game that's at least 80 hours of wandering around the first 4-5 hours of VII. (I'm just giving you a hard time)
I make it short for you... there is 3 reason why the game sales failed. 1- the final fantasy 7 remake was on PS4 that reach 100 Million sales. and PS5 only 37 million. 2- the old Fans don't like the new Story time line twisted ( me too). so they don't buy Bebirth. 3-some bad games from Square Enix like Forspoken make the Fans disappointed and Square Enix new policy ( WOKE ) that make some Fans stay away from their games. subscribe number 170
Tried to platinum the entire game on my first run and regretted it. Spent 160 hours in total. By the time I completed the game I felt so disconnected and unengaged with the main story. When I look back at the game all I can remember are the minigames… I enjoyed it thoroughly for the first 30-60 hours or so but after that it seems like a job. One of the best FF games to play, that is if u just play the main storyline and skip the minigames. But I believe players still need to do some side quests just to progress. What a shame.
Yeah I hear you. I don't think it ruined the experience for me as much as it did for you, but I also tried to platinum it in one play-through and I kinda feel like I shouldn't have done that. I still enjoyed the game, but I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't done that.

I rarely ever replay games these days (Not counting Hard Mode playthroughs for trophies). Final Fantasy VII Remake was one of the only games I actually replayed when they released the Intergrade version. That's how much I enjoyed it. However, considering the fact that I started this channel, it might be in the cards. Much like how I'm replaying all of the Final Fantasy games as part of my Re:Discover Final Fantasy series I can justify replaying them because I'm making content out of it. Depending on how many years we end up waiting for Part 3, I might consider replaying Rebirth again to refresh my memory for coverage of Part 3. But if I do replay it, I'm definitely not doing everything all over again. I will probably focus more on the main story and only do some of the side stuff.
Yesss Rebirth was like a whole vacation I loved it I’ve never played OG so I didn’t know what to expect but literally it was so fun I freaking love this game it is my new fave. Also with the dating thing I looked it up which girl is the story route to date and creators said you can have one or the other or both or neither. I picked both my first play through I tried to say and do all the right things with both girls cuz I thought we would go on triple dates but looks like it was just the Gold saucer date you get to choose and first go around I got Aerith and so since every date before the gold saucer is mandatory with Aerith every single date I had was with her my first play through. Second go around I looked up how to get Tifa and so if you want to date both girls try to romance Tifa bc like I said all the other dates are mandatory with Aerith so then it splits it up where the first couple dates are Aerith then the last 2 Gold Saucer dates are Tifa. Buttttt I will say the Tifa romance scenes do NOT feel romantic to me. It kinda feels like she uses Cloud as a therapist or something. They also have a lot of miscommunications throughout the game. The almost kiss in Gongaga is weird asf it’s like horrible timing, but I like the kiss on the ferris wheel. Aerith scenes flow much better, Cloud is more open with her, they flirt and joke and have a great time on their dates which I like better. So I think it depends on what you’re more interested in seeing. To me it looked like the Tifa Cloud romance scenes are trauma bondy and awkward. Like I said I think you can see the game however you want that’s how the creators said you can pick who you want it doesn’t matter they push both girls in whatever scenario you choose it’s a matter of taste it seems like.
I enjoyed the video 🦾 I agree with the title in so many ways. I started FF7rb on day one and by chapter 8 i was .... Done. This game is breath taking and blew my mind as a 35yo ff lover. I stopped at chapter 8 maybe bc i was refreshed and ready to continue my FFXV glitches. Now i am at a point of "should i continue ff7rb now?" What if i get uninspired again? I need rebirth! I am scared to end my vacation! 😂 And the game does seem like a tease...i understand they want to hype pt3 but i dont think ppl care. The game plays out really really good (so far) Btw i never played Remake 🙂 i am a ffviii guy just one entry too late to really commit... Again i would love to see more FFXV content....good or bad 👍😂
I will eventually cover Final Fantasy XV as part of my Re:Discover Final Fantasy series... but that's going to be loooong while as I'm only working on Final Fantasy III at the moment and my OCD prevents me from doing things out of order lol.
They probably did and you would think that it would have offset development costs, but if they're saying that it didn't perform well, then clearly it's not good enough.
@@FaustFantasy by perform well it means selling 4 million copies lol the point is they should have factored in only selling on ps5... and only so many ps5 are out there. market penetration on any game isnt going to generally be huge. maybe one to 4 games a year is bg3 or hogwarts market penetration
Seriously though I dont get players (players who have no idea how graphics work) just saying anything can run on a PS4, FF16 is already absolutely struggling on the PS5 so you are not seeing this on a switch anytime soon, unless of course they go back to cloud gaming like they did with kingdom hearts.
Final Fantasy just means it's a flagship title published by SquareEnix carrying the legacy of a series of games created by Hironobu \Sakaguchi back when it was just SquareSoft and before they had merged with Enix. Some of them are newer games are good, great even. Some of them are great, even. Some maybe even better than their originators. I couldn't argue that the new teams gave us anything less than a polished game. XII was an amazing experience, and that had notorious development issues. Seriously, I'm not knocking the post Sakaguchi games. but honestly, In my view, SquareEnix has abused the name ever since he left. Whether the games are good or not. Imagine if record labels just started publishing new albums from bands without the band... just because they had previously published those bands. A new pink ffloyd album without pink ffloyd for example. Somehow, we let them do that with video games, and they absolutely do it with final fantasy. Though with all of this Machine Learning technology, record companies may very well start to do just that.
Great videos! Your analyses of the sales situation and things Square could do for better performance make a lot of sense. The number being overwhelming so using it as more of an aside seems like it could work. I still can't get over your whole concept of Square-Enix not understanding how a trilogy works and needing to bank on sales of the first game (but not doing that! 😬). Hopefully you keep making videos because we will watch them! 😊

This was not due to negative reviews. This was due to the circumstances surrounding the release. Handhelds are more suited for Japan, while consoles are more suited for the West.
I’d love to buy FF16 and rebirth but I don’t have a ps5 yet. I have a hard time justifying spending $500 on a machine with so few interesting games I couldn’t get on my ps4. So either port it to ps4 or get Sony to do a price drop
If they kept the story and cutscenes mostly the same. I would love to see ff9 with today's graphics. Imagine Atmos swallowing lindblum with today's graphics. Seeing bahamut and Alexander Duke it out ❤❤❤
I would have to agree. I really disliked Type-0 as well. I'll end up playing it as part of my Re:Discover Final Fantasy Series at some point though so we'll see when I give it a second whirl. But I disliked it enough to not finish the game.
The only thing about the combat that needs to be fixed mechanically, in my opinion is the Trance meter, you should be able to build it by taking damage and then when it’s filled, CHOOSE to activate it. It needs to be more consistent and not useless.
