My first truck was a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. Black, of course. I am a dad, husband, comic book lover, and heavy metal English teacher.
I have taught at a vocational school for the last 20 years. Students bring me broken pistons for my desk.
I have a lot of respect for those that work with their hands.
I believe the heart is happiest when the hands and mind work together.

Hype not hype at all especially since there is tons of independent testing results data that confirms it's the best the king of the hill. What's that worth to you. Even so expensive yet is still cheaper than engine failure or drive line.
You can purchase a new 3rd brake light assembly (part no. 68298380AH LAMP-CENT) for $37.65 from the dealership, at service and parts. Dodge will install it at a labor charge of $30.00. I think the leak problem occurs because if you park your truck outside, the sun damages the gasket seal. So it will need to be replaced every 3-4 years.
I have one almost like it sitting in my carport now. You have a few more little options than mine does but basically, it's the same truck. I have about 72k miles on mine, I think. 70k something anyway. Not sure how much longer I will keep it. I'm getting older and don't drive it that much. About tired of paying the insurance on it. lol It's good you are teaching your son the importance of maintaining his vehicle. Teaching him to be responsible. Son, listen to your dad. He's doing you right.
I was a valvoline person myself. Don’t get me wrong I still do. I was hesitant about Amsoil myself for many years. A friend of mine used the 2-stroke fluid for ATV almost 20 years ago, than I used it in a vehicle 13 years ago and have been a Amsoil dealer since
Pleasant watching your vid. I have a 2019 Longhorn. I had to get my back window changed. Under warranty.. Also had to change my back brakes and rotors at 45,000 mile. Dealer wouldn’t do anything. Otherwise the truck has been great and reliable. First Ram product and no regrets
Amsoil isn’t just oil. The api rating is the minimum standard and Amsoil exceeds the standards. “Full” synthetic is merely a group three synthetic made from crude oil. Amsoil signature is made from group 4 & 5 true synthetic products that out perform petroleum.
Just look up their abrasion tests here on RU-vid for their signature series vs. the competition. The only one that comes close is Pennzoil platinum in all the tests. People can say just change your oil, "synthetic is overkill," all they want. The point is to reduce engine wear and extend the life of the internal components. Every car I ran Amsoil sig in ran well over 300k miles. The engines lasted longer than the rest of the vehicle. It's worth it, in my opinion. My dad was a mechanic at the Chrysler proving grounds and retired after 30 years. He only used to use valvoline conventional oil until he tried Amsoil in his 408 stroker. Now he runs full synthetic and hasn't looked back. Amsoil is very slick, and that is what you want, low friction. I also have a work colleague who owns a 69 Chevelle SS 454, and he swears it made his engine run a few degrees cooler after making the switch to Amsoil. Low friction means optional horsepower, especially in high-performance vehicles where it really counts. However, it is the kind of thing people have to try in order to way up the cost benefit.
Just depends what video you watch. I watched one the other day where they tested the used oil of each brand after it had been ran for 5,000 miles and AMSoil placed third with Penzzoil Platinum in second and Royal Purple at the top. If I remember correctly out of those three amsoil had the highest levels of aluminum. It was double the amount of both PP and RP but even then it was minimal and not something to be concerned about. I’ve only ran royal Purple in my gassers and Rotella T6 in my Cummins so I wouldn’t know how anything else ran. I think at this point it’s more of a preference for me as is amsoil to you.
@MilesIzHigh5280 right on. I don't run the Amsoil anymore since PP started competing with them. A colleague of mine used to be a dealer, so I would get it from him. Some places carry it, but it has been to get in my area, so I switched to PP. I've used Royal Purple in the past and liked that as well. But I think you are right, it's preference at this point.
I used Valvoline for over 30 years. Had good luck with it, until I did an oil analysis after 6 months of use. The results...not good. I was so impressed with AMSOIL, I became a an independent dealer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g4BGS1HjICY.htmlsi=k67KlMRc89gTy8Vf Valvoline used to be one of the oldest American Oil companies, until they sold out to Saudi Aramco in March 2023.
Overkill just change ur oil every 3-5k regular full synthetic and your car will last forever but if ur like to burn money for no reason at all just because you want to extend your "OCI" that's not a good idea stick to Valvoline
Finally some common sense. Using synthetic oils is way too overkill. Just do regular oil changes. Even mineral engine oils have changed a lot and are now API sN , so I don't see the need of using a 100% synthetic oil, while cheaper semi synthetic and mineral engine oils clean engines efficiently nowadays
@@danteerskine7678 exactly besides AMSOIL can promise you the world in a bottle but they WILL VANISH QUICKLY IF ANY MECHANICAL BILLS COME YOUR WAY! DO NOT OVERPAY AND BUY INTO THE HYPE Amsoil isn't the first to come out with these "Miracles IN CANS" this snake oil BS has been around for a LONG TIME! just make sure you change your oil on time and use the right grade and your car will be fine using $100 a quart oil lol isn't going to do ANYTHING for your car besides drain your wallet! 💯
I used amsoil for 15yrs. 450k on my nissan bluebird. Oil work great. Engine is quiet like new.. Catch: either use a oil bypass or regular change of the oil filter every 5k to 6k. Oil filter cost only a few dollars. Amsoil atf multi grade. My trans have never had an issue. Smooth shift. I will stick to amsoil for my next car.
It's impossible to have an opinion without having the necessary facts. What engine? What OCI? Where driven? How driven? And most importantly, where are your used oil analyses?
Yes sir, I concur. Been using amsoil signature series (0W 20) since 2016 when I bought my last new vehicle. My vehicle idles smoother and gives better gas mileage......also.....little to no residue.
Sir, that is terrible. I do better with using my hands once it is loose. Now, for the oil that you use, will you be giving us a review when you reach your next oil change?
Thank you. Always watch your videos. I have the 22 rebel GT and really like it. I have the same cover I get some leak working on getting that fix once the weather gets warmer.
It's just oil. They have to meet the same standards as the other oils. If you can afford it then use it but if you want to be more cost effective just buy any full synthetic oil at the box store. And do your recommend oil change intervals recommended by vehicle manufacturer and you'll be just fine.
@Rep1776 SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers which is solely responsible for the viscosity classification. Technically you are correct it is a spec you have to meet but there isn't an oil manufacturer in the world that only meets the sae standard. So im unsure what's you are talking about. For example penzoil platinum (an oil I can get for about 24$/gal locally) meets API SP, ILSAC GF-6A which are the same standards that amsoil platinum makes. Study more
Big issue here is that many car mfg’s rec 7,500-10k mile oil & filter changes & your rec to just follow the mfg’s oil change rec using the rec oil has led to many engine failures etc as often seen here on RU-vid by qualified engine builders & auto mechanics. The avg what’s called full syn that’s not true group 4&5 full syn oil can’t handle going past 5k miles max where on avg their visc is sheared & additive pkgs can’t handle the long 7500-10k oil drain periods sludging up & clogging oil passages esp for VVT setups leading to at the very least premature oil burning or in many cases catastrophic engine failure esp in trucks with gas & diesel engines under more load carrying more weight or towing. Just search engine failures related to 10k mile oil changes in RU-vid or on google before you rec people follow that regime. This is coming from my 5 decades 1st hand Exp of wrenching rebuilding restoring classic muscle cars & motor cycles & not just being a keyboard warrior making rec they have no business giving that over time/miles can really hurt people financially.
@@lcoi-3200 All synthetic oils aren’t the same. Most of the full synthetic oils are simply a more highly refined group 3 petroleum oil. The best synthetics are group 4 & 5 synthetic base stocks.
So they cover the bed lights if you have them? That sucks. On my ford they had the box link plates you could mount the cargo tie downs...but they weren't adjustable like RAM. That might be a deal breaker...
Is your warranty up? If not take it in and see what they say. That’s what I did. They smoke tested it, confirmed a leak and had a local glass place replace it. So far, so good.
@@venomrebel2020 check out project farm's video where he tests different oil brands. I was already using Amazon oil before I saw it, so I was glad to see how well it performed against other more expensive name-brand oils.
I don’t know why I’m just now discovering your channel. I have a 2021 Rebel that I absolutely love. Been researching different controllers for my truck, and decided to go with Banks. They are definitely a company that can be trusted, and their products are made in the USA. I can’t wait to place my order soon for the Pedal Monster and iDash DataMonster.
@@venomrebel2020 I'm swapping to the banks soon have a pedal commander on my 12' ram and it's shitty I've had a throttle body map sensor replaced it has left me in limp mode as well
I bought a set pre made from a guy who everyone in the Rebel community buys from but he wants me to remove 2 top louvers from the active grill and I refused to do that on a brand new 23 Rebel lunar. I still have the lights. How did you run them without interfering with the grill louvers?
Thank you for posting this in-depth look at the iDash DataMonster! While many just use the tool for simple tasks like keeping an eye on temps, pressures, speeds and levels, it does so much more as you've discovered. It's a powerful engine evaluation instrument. Can't wait to see how you use it next!
I just had the Banks ad pop up in my Facebook feed. Naturally, I go to RU-vid to look up installation and reviews. That's how I landed here. I have a 2019 Rebel. All I've done so far is Mopar intake and Borla exhaust. But, with the creation of my own RU-vid channel I have some projects to do. This is one of them. Have you done any kind of tuning at all?
Hey! Glad to hear from you and good luck on your channel. I have not done any tuning whatsoever. I’m a little nervous given the electrical nature of tuning these days. What are your thoughts?
@@venomrebel2020 well, I don't want to go too deep into mods on the Rebel but it would be nice to just get a little more hp. I just need to do some research for the best options for the bucks. I also have a Ducati Panigale with light performance mods but lots of carbon fiber. I'm hoping to get the bulk of my Restomod VW Beetle project moving. All of these are "channel-worthy content" but I'm not trying to drain my 401k. Know what I mean?
@@venomrebel2020my 2019 Ram 1500 Hemi had the hemifever tune using the Diablo i3 tuner. Super well worth the mod. Thing is you don’t need a throttle controller because the tuner has one built in and you can change the sensitivity down to the percent 0%-100% lol. I only came on here for the banks review because my new 2023 Ram 1500 doesn’t have a tuner available for it yet. Once a tuner is available for my year Ram I’m selling my Banks.
Your mods are probably the closest to where I want my Rebel to look. I saw a vid where someone put a 3.5 SST lift form Readylift. Is that similar to what you said was the "spacer option" you mentioned in this vid? Does the 6112 leave the CV/axle issue in 4x4 level?
