Man I’m trying so hard to understand this video, I’m making glass fiber speakers too now but your technique is the best, what was the white stuff that made such a nice smooth finish?
@@KarmaByLush good you can have some fun then. If you are easily offended you can just leave. But leaving comments like that it just shows you want to be mean and is an evil person.
@@mackemacchiato3238 Could be an option though. Don't forget to insulate it with some liquid rubber/silicone cause you'll have dust inside after some time (and it such water from an air like a pump)
@@sc0or yes, one can mix some coating like polyester and brush it. The concrete sub I have made as u see in the channel does not dust, but aircrete might.
I didnt undestand the process at all? Where was the form for outer an inner shell? What tha hack just happend? Where did the Concret come from? Why no Explaination?
I used a special techinique to pour and reinforce the concrete and this is not an instructional video. More inspiring. Since it would be weird if Volvo did videos how to do the EV Polestar car… sort of…
So are there actual "sonic differences" between a spherical enclosure compared to that of a traditional "cube" or elongated "box shaped" speaker cabinet?? I would assume that the density of the concrete would definitely help, just wondering about the "shape"...
The round shape helps remove resonance and the “shell” vibrating. Egg shell principle . Strong but one can still keep it thin. A globe reduced standing waves inside and reduces unwanted noise. Mostly in higher frequencies, so the round shape is for the strength and mostly for design. Easy to furnish and to look at in a home instead of a black cube as the mainstream producers sells :) I also made one out of a hemp basket 🧺, with concrete inside.
@@bennip.5009 i have had people here listening to them.. you are the one that is wrong and can’t admit that your judgement was totally irrational since you judge something recorded with an old iPhone
Fantastiskt snyggt!!
Thanks man! I was just looking for some kind of sphere I could make a mold of and asked around . Because round shapes gets No standing waves inside, so it is very strong and ”dead” and perfect for a Loudspeaker :)
@@mackemacchiato3238 yeah but only needed for tweeters & upper mids as wavelengths at lower freq are way too long to form a standing wave inside a normal enclosure. Thats why most subs are square shaped. & that b&w 800 series has that tweeter enclosure.
@@datdudeinred tweeters doesn’t need any enclosure at all. Only a baffle to spread the sound. A sphere shape is stronger than a rectangular. Hence eggs beeing strong but beeing thin. So, doing a round shape save volume but still stronger = resonance free than a box.
Ese diseño es HI-END para mi una de las mejores geometrías acústicas para baja y media potencia en entorno del hogar, solo que hubiera incluido material amortizante acustico internamente para evitar exceso de resonancia . This design is HI-END for me, one of the best acoustic geometries for low and medium power in the home environment.only that it would have included acoustic damping material internally to avoid excess resonance.
Τ line speakers stuck in corners, in cupboards, on uneven height and one behind a sofa? Of course the spherical speakers will sound cleaner with more precise bass while the T-lines will sound boomy and diffused. But a good T-line in a room that can take the bass, will run circles around any bass reflex in bass extension and delineation of plucks, wood tones and low pitch harmonics.
@@datdudeinred good point! There is still a resistance in a T-line to get the air out of it making it responsive even in the mid-bass range! Even though as the former commented say about the sofa , the T-line still sounds better and the placement in the room is incredibly crucial.
Hello! I have bought a calibration mic but haven’t had time to det it up, since I got the wrong type of mic and need a pre-amp to it before connecting it to a computer. But the audio is actually amazing! The stereo spread is insane and fills up even a 50sqm room
I would love to but these are more like prototypes and not with industrial molds. Polyester hardens all the time and never stops, so I have noticed a glitch right at the line dividing the 2 halfs. To make it industrial and get it homogenic I should 3D-Scan it and make injection-tool. So it feels bad sending a couple away with a risk that can happen. (Friends have bought some with knowledge of this, so that is how far I have gone with selling these)
I agree with you on the T lines. Built a set from a kit (parts Express Tri Trix). I felt certain, due to the bately 5" drivers that I would have to add a sub. Even though I was just using them to replace the TV speaker in my bedroom. While they certainly don't reach down into the 30's, the bass is surprisingly good and tight. This makes me wonder how 7 or 8 inch drivers would sound in a T line box.
I think one needs to have it stiffer and a longer Tube to give the resistance behind the come so it sounds good as a midrange as well, if you thought like in a 2-way system? This speaker is 6,5” and goes really deep. On monacor’s webpage one have the frequency curve on every driver at 1db/1M and this driver looks great even though beeing cheap! :) I wish I had a better mic because they sound so great, beeing so simple after all. The round ones are easier to furnish, but the TL sounds better.
That is true, as long as one gets the correct amount of volume for the designated speaker then it is all good. Doing creative stuff and having something No one else have is nice !
Pretty marvelous. Placed in a corner they even gives good low frequencies. So I sold a couple to a company that have them in a lunchroom in the upper ceiling corners and they asked where the Subwoofer was. The tweeter is one of the expensive ones in Monacor’s catalogue and gives amazing details without beeing too sharp for listening even very loud!
With this driver the volume was too small, but in general when you have no resonance at all like in this hard shell, the sound gets very clean and distinct! ;)
@@mackemacchiato3238 Thanks for replying. I wish I could listen to it in first person. Well, to tune this kind of speaker low, will be a challenge then. But it complements the spherical asthetics of your setup at the same time :D
@@zenvir1680 i went to my shop yesterday and have 2 unbuilt ones and thought I could to a wooden ring and make tho whole smaller and try a 6.5” driver to get a better kick-bass maybe. Also fill the bassreflex tube with some foam to adjust the frequency a bit. On every sub I could mount a steel-pipe and mount my smaller globe on top and thus making it a 3-way system. Thanks for showing interest :)
@@mackemacchiato3238 yes, kick bass sounds like a good idea for this kind of project, although I don't think I fully understand what you said, what is a 3-way system?😅 (not an audio expert on this side, just a curious DIYer)
The 6.5” was great! The best one for Transmission line, but it worked great here also and now I out a pole on top of it and the satellite speaker on it so it became a 3-way system.
Just found your channel and i think you do some great work. I'm wondering, where do you buy your speakers? I have a Harman kardon citation one with a blown 3.5 inch woofer and I have not been able to find a replacement. Thank you
Hey man! Thank you very much! I buy the drivers at Monacor and they have replacemnet cones also actually, so if you are good with contact glue you can fix it :)
Yes. But Only recorded with my iPhone8. Later edited together in the iMovie app, so no fiddling with the sound from my side. Built in BT-amplifier 2x30W
