Why this sevr over a fixed broad head?
@outdoorswithtravis
@outdoorswithtravis 3 дня назад
So it’s not a fixed broadhead over mechanical. For me it’s what the job requires. If I go buffalo hunting or giraffe/hippo hunting then im going fixed blade all the way but otherwise all plains game in Africa with a decent arrow weight is soft
@SavagelandHunting
@SavagelandHunting 3 дня назад
@@outdoorswithtravis I'm asking why the mechanical. I hear good things about sevr but what do I gain over a fixed? Is the flight better? Can you get more distance? What's the advantage?
@matteofina5602
@matteofina5602 3 дня назад
@@SavagelandHuntingI’d say more forgiving in wind and stuff cause if you tune a fixed right ofc it’ll be accurate but smaller profile exposed to wind means less chance of a change in flight path over longer distances and over just a solid broadhead

If that bow is for deer hunting what's the scope for? Isn't a 20 to 30 yard shot a good shot with a bow. So what's the need for a scope
@outdoorswithtravis
@outdoorswithtravis 3 дня назад
1. You clearly haven’t hunted africa on foot, I don’t sit in tree stands or cozy hides I walk, so if a buck offers a shot at 75 yards I’m going to take it. 2. You don’t get iron sights for a crossbow, so you risk injuring the animal if you aren’t accurate. 3. If you have the money to break 30 dollar bolts while learning to instinctively shot a cross you can definitely go ahead and remove the scope😂 4. I don’t hunt with crossbows ever, never have and never will. I just do reviews and help guys with buying decisions 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Three things that come to mind with such a heavy arrow ! A quitter bow and much less shock to the limbs ! As long as you know your distance and pin setting out to 35 yards the kinetic energy is your best friend when going through bone !

As a point of conversation why do you use a mechanical head? I also believe the Sevr design is as good as it’s going to be for function and reliability. Even the original design by the Ulmer brothers worked great for my son. I know you can and have taken game at extended distances partly because these heads fly so well. In all my years I have never used any mechanical head. I prefer smaller fixed blade heads. Back in the day there wasn’t any mechanical heads and with my continued success why change? On a good day I have shot my fixed blade heads, Magnus Black Hornets, inside a 5” group at 80 yards. Showing me they will hit behind the pin. Now I won’t shoot a game animal past 40 yards because of the inherent possibility of it moving. Point is a fixed blade head in itself will not fail is my thoughts on which head to use. I surely enjoy your videos.👍👍
@outdoorswithtravis
@outdoorswithtravis 3 дня назад
Honestly it’s partly who I was trained by partly because I have never had a mechanical fail me. I choose between mechanical and fixed based on the task at hand. Hippo/ Buffalo/ Giraffe I would only shoot with fixed blade All other plains game in Africa with a decent weighted arrow are actually soft animals.

Looking forward to see these arrows at work. Remember they are for hunting and you need the momentum at longer distances - especially for broad mechanicals. The lighter you go the more you lose momentum at distance. No good reaching the animal with enough energy to wound. How much more do you think a 570 gr arrow will drop compared to a 500gr arrow - at 60 yrds? There's a video for you - 450, 500 and 550 gr arrows shot at 20m, 40m and 60m and lets compare the drop. Sight them in for each arrow weight and misjudge distance - shoot at 35m and 45m when using 40m pin.
