the amount of times this show was Therapy to me, and this scene was session one for me. I remember this line hitting too close too home when i first saw it.
It makes me so mad that this show never got the critical recognition it deserved, and makes me wonder what on earth those hack reviewers were watching. This show is brilliant.
i think that out of the 9000 views about 1000 of them have been me. i wish we could get a studio quality recording of this arrangement. gives me chills every time
Will should've done this entire scene with his dick and balls hanging out of his pants, but not acknowledge it in any way, as a sign of dominance. Would've fit the tone of the scene perfectly.
This is my favorite takedown because it showed how much Will cared for his people. And all of the times he was yelling and screaming and carrying on, he was poised borderline, polite and downright scary all without raising his voice
Lawrence O'Donnell referenced this scene the other night on The Last Word. I'd forgotten that this was the first time I'd heard of the Debt Ceiling before.
"Look at me...and see that I'm dead serious." "I'm just a middle-aged man that never lived up to his potential. You don't wanna be on the wrong end of me if I ever do." Boy was cold in this scene
Charlie: “Will?” Will: “What?” Charlie: “When was the last time you saw her?” Will: “I dunno, about three years ago.” Charlie: “COINCIDENTALLY, THAT’S THE LAST TIME YOU WERE A NICE GUY.” **Will walks out in a huff Waitress: “Would you like another, Mr. Skinner?” Charlie: **incredibly polite** “Yes, please.”
"Tough ass speech.......but you won't win" "Ah, doesn't matter. I'm just a middle aged guy who never lived up to his potential...........you don't want to be on the wrong end of me if I ever do" Perfectly done parting shot. 😁😎
She’s so slimy in her smugness. And you can feel Will’s subdued rage when she calls herself a “Journalist” a name Will knows in his heart of hearts she never earned!
That's exactly the point Sorkin is making and has made over the course of the show. ACN are the only ones that seem to genuinely want to REPORT the news while literally every one else wants to MAKE news irrespective of the truth and of the actual facts, and also have absolutely no qualms on who they trounce on just to FIRST. Other networks have no honor, no compassion, no morals, no scruples, no conscience, and no remorse.
@@bobbyshaddoe3004 which is why ACN is something of a chimeric ideal, something to live up to, even with its warts-and-all humanity, maybe especially because of it.
@@tvtitlechampion3238exactly because the truth isn't pretty, it is perfect, the truth can be ugly and harsh, but it's also genuine. The minute people try to pretty things up and wrap it all up with a tidy little bow, it no longer becomes truth, it because some pretty little bauble you buy in a store to make someone feel better.
“No little girl dreams of growing up to be a gossip columnist.” - Nina It is so beautiful that even Nina, as damaged and soulless as she had become, wanted to do better. Will’s mission to civilize really did have *some* small victories.
@@robynharris7179 yeah, she wanted to do better.... But didn't. That was HER choice. Instead of actually sticking to her convictions, she decided to dedicate her life to being a petty bottom feeding troll.
@@robynharris7179 I think a lot of girls have always dreamt of being gossip columnists. Pays well to do something they enjoy doing anyway. Nothing wrong with that, same as boys wanting to grow up to do sports commentators. But that doesn't make it journalism.
