Hi Colin, once I got asked "How much is 7 x 8?" and I immediately replied "72". The next question I got was "Are you sure you are studying mathematics?" So, yeah... Shit happens. :) Transparency much appreciated, though. RESPECT! Cheers!
Others have already said similar but good on you for taking accountability for your own mistake. I'm not all that concerned about the mistake but the fact that you did everything you could to correct it, speaks volumes about you. Keep up the good work.
If the entire mainstream media, Informational sector, and lets throw in all elected officials (on either side), would actually realize that people ( us plebs in general ) would have much more respect for someone who admits that they are fallible and capable of making mistakes and wrong decisions.... Then put their ego and hubris aside and offer ... Not A Tearful Apology video, but instead a detailed and concise explanation of what and how they came to make that error or.." Incoming buzz-word" Misinformation-Disinformation. The World would be a lot less mistrustful and chaotic. I personally triple check everything I hear or read before ever repeating it. Not on a topic like this of course.... But I think you understand what I'm getting at. Kudos for taking it down. Most You-Tubers would just leave it up just for the views and revenue. Thank you.
Colin, thank you so much for the honesty. It's not only refreshing but very welcome. Take it easy on yourself, though. No one's perfect and as you said, we all make mistakes. Hope you went for a pint after this one.
You are a horrible person. Interpol and the ICC are going to have a word with you over this. :) Seriously, though, you always do a great job and you clearly own it when you make a mistake. Keep up the great work.
I'm very proud of you Colin. This is the appropriate approach when an inaccuracy is made. This should be a lesson to all of us to take responsibility for mistakes and do the right thing to correct it.
It does answer your question: the device is an interface - it allows the guitar to interface with the computer. Once that is achieved you can do whatever you like with the guitar signal inside the computer (so long as you have the relevant software): you can record it, or stream it, or do anything you like with it. The computer is what decided that - the device just gets the guitar into the computer.
Colin out here being way better than any politician, but to be honest I don’t blame him for the mistake, things happen and this video just shows how much Colin cares and how truly smart he is
The feeling Colin expresses in this video is so unbelievably relatable to me for so many projects where I felt like I was slamming my head into a brick only to realize I'd just completely glossed over the most important piece of information in the problem. o7 Colin, I appreciate your candor and I don't imagine I'm alone in saying that this not only is not a mark on your credibility, but is actually indicative of how dedicated you are to providing credible information.
Scientific integrity used to be the norm. It's sad to see all the comments below that clearly show how much damage the "follow the science" crowd did to people's trust. As a scientist, I appreciate this video, but at the same time, I expect it ;-). Well done Colin
The production on these videos is amazing. I love the lighting elements like the rim light to add separation from the background. This is television level content.
This is why I personally watch your videos. I believe the information you give to be accurate, and your opinions to hold a little more weight than others. (Still use my dragon heart guitar pick, if that shows how long I've been lurking) The fact that you immediately corrected and called yourself on it speaks for your character. Kudos man
Even before hearing it that is an incredible price for all the work put into it. I have a 72 thinline tele which is obviously more expensive. This it brilliant.
G'day Colin, I must say, I did see the mistake you made, but I didn't think it was - it seemed to be unusual to me that an optical component can transmit power, particularly when I looked at the circuit, but I kept watching. Once you explained it here, everything made sense. It was one of those silly mistakes we all make, like the time where Mick from TPS showed us how to "block" a Strat vibrato, but forgot to mention that part of the earth circuit is broken once the vibrato strings are disconnected. So, don't sweat it too much. The mistake I am finding hard to forgive is the one you've been making, when you remove the "silly bit" at the end of your videos, after the credits. Some creators leave a long closing shot after the credits - like Andertons TV. If viewers don't watch the entire closing shot, their view isn't counted by YT. Others share the closing shot with the credits - like JHS. It's easier to watch a closing like that, because there's still some information available. But, the silly bit at the end of your older videos are always fun to watch - they're different, entertaining, closed your videos nicely, & left us more time for loud music. Please, please, please bring back the silly bit at the end. All of that being said, this is one of the greatest apologies I've ever seen. Thanks. I am interested in power supplies though - I've got 70 pedals, but only 1 power supply. I've also made about a doz 9v battery clips wired up to 2.1mm power jacks, but only half of them have a well charged battery. Keep up the good work Andrew
This is one of the reasons I like your channel so much. If it makes you feel any better, I too have a degree in physics and totally didn't notice although that was 30 years ago and I barely learned any electronics. And interesting detail (to me at least) is that this piece of gear is kind of pricey, especially in the market NUX typically plays in. It goes to show that it is really hard to cheat on quality and still keep prices low. I am curious how this will compete with Strymon and Ciox and such. Regardless, you are a class act and we are lucky to have content from you.
