These GMO products are being promoted by a lot of western countries primarily the US. Like Monsanto now owned by Bayer who introduced " miracle rice" but these rice varieties needs a lot of fertilizer and pesticides that Bayer manufactures. Aside from that fact that seeds supply are controlled by suppliers with the harvested rice not suitable for seeds. That is why EU and a lot of other countries are against GMOs. Only the US pressuring other countries to plant GMO rice,corn, soya beans and other agricultural products.
