I'm so glad I found this intro. Thank God for RU-vid sometimes. Nobody I mention Big Blue Marble to, remembers it. I think that between this show, electric company, sesame Street, and the public school system in New England including so many refugees back in the '70s-'80s into our community, which helped me value America as "The Melting Pot". And the value of learning about a new culture, and being grateful for each other in our community, rather than judgemental and condemning of our differences and whatever is going on today. I really don't understand how we got here. It's amazing how innocent kids really are before the closed mindedness of adults influence them.
As a kid I did not appreciate how awesome it is that, after spanning the globe, the video ends in on a winter night in NYC with the vocalist and two friends. Awesome editing, and for a kids' show!
Thank you for uploading this. I just got transported in my mind to over 40 years ago to grade school. It is early-mid afternoon and the class and I could now relax and watch a show and not have to study or do work for 15 minutes. Just enjoy the moment and learn something through the show.
I’ve been reading the comments one after the other of people expressing exactly how I feel. I really enjoy sharing my memories with other people who have similar feelings. What I remember is growing up in the state of Hawaii as a little kid and watching this show. Sometimes for some strange reason on our PBS affiliate, I would watch it along with self incorporated, and all about you. We moved away from Hawaii a few years later, and I am currently living in Tennessee. When I see that opening music and those old episodes, I think about living in Hawaii
As a kid I loved the song up to 0:58 After that it felt like a Coke commercial. Maybe I just wanted to stay in outer space. 😄 The first musical phrase are so haunting with the big reverb, still love it.
God, I must say watching this brought tears to my eyes! I remember this program as a kid and it brought me back to a make simpler time. I really wish I could go back to that time.
I'm 53 years old, and it makes me feel like I was back in the 70s when I grew up watching all of these shows at home and at school. It makes you want to cry and remember how innocent things were.
Somehow today i found the tv series which i got a pen pal from Australia back in 1977 when we were 13yo. We wrote to each other till an early 1990s. Back then internet wasnt in surface: looking back the series of big blue marble is reminiscent the old days. Missed the old days, old friends and famili es.
Class was always boring until the teacher dragged the tv out from the back room. Electric Company, Thinkabout, Big Blue Marble, Vegetable Soup or Iside Out. The theme songs were always great.😊

The music is so rich, one of the best intros ever. the harmony of the music with the sound of the space ship. And the singers harmony. That's the magic of the 70s.
I can't seem to find the original opening and closing to "America Rock" with the animated Betsy Ross creating the American flag and instrumental of "The Preamble" for the closing. Anyone?
A shot in the dark: I grew up with these PSA's. I remembered the song, and found this video. What I am looking for is a short (10 or 15 second version) with this music. The visual is an old gold miner of sorts, dressed in traditional gold mining clothes from the 1850s, wearing a beat up hat, beat up jeans/overalls, shirt, high boots, ETC. He is smoking a cigarette, and dancing a jig, right on the edge of a cliff. He falls backwards off the cliff, then you see him with angel wings rising up into heaven (???). This version of the PSA scared the fertilizer out of me when I was a kid. And I just can't see to find this version of the PSA anywhere on RU-vid or other video platforms. Anybody able to help?
