I've got two lanes that are super slow growing compared to my 2 Halls. Since I'm in Texas can extend the fertilizer schedule all the way to October? I'd like to push these to Lanes as much as I can. I don't understand the pruning, does it mean that I leave last year's growth there and then leave two additional buds so the buds would be four buds, I don't have nearly the fruit I had last year and I didn't ruin anything last year

Hi. I love how well you explain the care of the vines. Very helpful and clearly understood videos. Thank you. I am a new gardener and have some beautiful muscadine vines in their second year. I pruned them properly in Winter and neglected the first few months of growth. We had lots of rain and wow they took off so I now have growth everywhere. Can you guide me on what to do to get these vines where they need to be?

Terrible company to order from. It has taken months for me to get a part of my order. They don’t answer the phone or reply to emails. I’m 3 shipments and months in and still don’t have my complete order or have any acknowledgment from them that they even know what items they haven’t shipped. Nothing in any order indicated items were back ordered and owed to me. I’ll find another nursery rather than deal with Ison’s ridiculousness!
AGREE WITH YOU 100%. ISON'S CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS GONE TO SHIT. SIMILAR STORY HERE, WAITING ON PROMISED CREDIT FOR $160 WORTH OF PERSIMMON TREES. THEY CANT ANSWER MY EMAIL, BUT THEY CAN SEND OUT EMAILS TO THE MASSES IN TAKING NEW ORDERS FOR NEXT YEAR! SOMEONE ELSE IS RUNNING THINGS NOW IT SEEMS, NOT SAME COMPANY ANY MORE. GRANDPA RAN THINGS MUCH BETTER.
Greg I have a young young vine that is like 1/4” thick and I’ve set up my emitter right at the trees root base, not 12” away. Is that smart? I think it’s good for now but would like to know it it will hurt the roots down the line being so close to the trunk.
I truly enjoy watching these instructional videos. I have chosen Ison's Nursey as my go to knowledge base. I have had Muscadine grapes for over 35 years. Our mother vines were over 2-3 inches thick, but over time our production came to only a few. I decided to tear out two vines and replace with new ones. This time I am applying everything Greg teaches. Several years ago, from only three vines I was able to pick over five 5-gallon buckets full of grapes over the season. I am encouraged to return to those days.
During the process of training vine "down the wire" (not yet 10 feet each side) if any fruit appears should I also trim the new fruit off as it appears while I am pinching off laterals. i.e. until the training is complete?
You might want to mention using a slim/pointed pole next to the plant; otherwise, it may tear off important roots when pushing it into the ground. How well does Darlene do for jam/wine? I am planting my first 2 vines in my back yard (just above Atlanta) and definitely Ison variety for one and thinking either Carlos or Darlene for the other.
