Hey! I'm Andong, a Berlin-based food RU-vidr, exploring the world in the pursuit of good food, cooking techniques and the stories behind those things.
I discovered my passion for food when I lived in China. I have since returned to Germany, become a filmmaker and make weekly videos about food, culture and cooking!
I started this channel in 2018. I've been on RU-vid for ages though - feel free to check my super old and cringy content, partly consisting of mandarin rap videos that went viral in China. I'm leaving them up cause I think they're awkward and fun. But I'm all about food now, I promise!
You're welcome to join the club and bring the world a little closer by sharing and learning about our food cultures.

There's a dish in northern Thailand called laab diip which is a raw beef salad. I had it twice and it's really good. However, people do die because of parasites from it and it's generally not advised to eat it too often. Apparently, many people serve it at weddings.
I've tried chicken sashimi when I was in Tokyo, it honestly was not bad. They served it with raw onions and an egg yolk, and it was the most flavorful natural chicken taste ive ever had, that was literally all the good I can say about that dish lol, the chicken was super stringy, tough and chewy, almost like gum
Pigs infected with trichinosis: 1 in 800 in the United States, 3 in 10 million in Germany. Big difference. If I visit Germany, I'll try raw pork, but not in the US. No, no, no.
Chicken sashimi is actually partially cooked. I believe it is blanche to kill any microbes on the outside of the chicken before they are sliced. This is because microbes only start attacking meat and fish on the surface first. This is also why industrial tenderization renders the meat dangerous raw or even possibly medium rare.
Raw meat spread is mainstream in Poland. Metka cebulowa and metka tatarska can be found in some but not all shops. Also they do mustard instead of butter. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Nice! Now I want one. Very fitting would be "Rundstück warm" as the next video, as it was invented around the same time, but in Hamburg. It is said to be the origin of the Hamburger de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rundst%C3%BCck_warm and is also "meat on bread"
FYI in Thailand we also do have some kind of sour and spicy fermented pork sausage called แหนม (Naem). Often eaten it raw after the fermentation process has occurred.
Hey Andong! Love your content. But I would never ever try this…. Don’t care how “hygienic” and clean the methods are, raw meat; especially pork, is icky. 😂
In Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti, they have kitfo, a raw beef dish. I'd never eat it raw, though. Raw meat dishes are definitely off the table for me. Meat's best cooked or dried.
You’ve picked the only wrong unclean meat ? It is the only animal that doesn’t sweat and eat shite ! Why take the risk if religions said it is unclean ? To each their own but you picked the only worst option 😂
Mettwurst is a common thing in South Australia. It's fermented raw pork and beef, usually with salt, pepper, other spices and it's really good with garlic. Some people then smoke it, and smoked mettwurst is divine.
I was just talking about this with my dad the other day and he thought it was crazy until I actually described how it was usually eaten with the onion and on bread and then he was like "Wait, that's not weird. That was my dad's favorite snack."
