We love your cavy videos, Greg! Thank you. We are in the USA and were wondering if pedigreed or purebred show cavies in the UK are required to have permanent IDs (i.e. metal ear tags or ear tattoos or leg rings)? Here cavies must have a numbered metal tag clamped onto the left ear in order to be entered into a show.
Hiya mark, thanks for watching the videos, we do not have a compulsory pedigree system here in the Uk, nor do we have any tags or way of identifying the animals, some people micro chip them, but for judging purposes all cavies are anonymous
Thanks you for posting this video Greg since finding your channel and watching all your videos I quite fancy having a go at showing. I found this video really informative and answered questions I had. We are actually going to the Welland Valley Cavey show which amazingly is being held 5 mins walk away at our local community center so am excited to go and watch
I have a very strict quarantine policy for new animals incoming, but my after show care routine involves viricidal wipes, anti mite spray and ivomec for the cavies, and viricidial wash for the boxes
I use surgical spirits and a cotton wool bid to break down the grease then wash the pig, you can also use washing up liquid on the grease spot..lol some people use swarfega

These guinea pigs aren’t for sale the breeders (not me) are experts in their breed and the cavies are kept immaculately and training well, Simon speaks of breed specific faults only, not in relation to the health of the Guinea pig. I support adoption 💯 and work with Avalon Guinea pig rescue here in the Uk ( you may have seen them on the Netflix movie keeper of the pigs). I will check out your rescue and see the good work you do also. 🥰
Irn Bru! I've seen that on LADbible! So exotic :D And that is beautiful scenery. I can't help but imagine how wonderful it'd be if those fields were filled with cavys running around weeking ^.^
Thank you so much for your film footage of Scotland. OMG unbelievably beautiful. It truly is one of God's most beautiful creations. Heaven on earth. So proud of the Scottish people for preserving their land and keeping it the way it has been since the beginning of time. I am so sad to say that we Americans have not respected the land here. Unbelievably beautiful Scotland. And the beautiful Scottish people.
OMG. So unbelievably well behaved. And quiet. All of them. What a joy all guinea pigs are. Little blessings from God. Such beautiful souls for us humans to emulate and embrace. They are so perfect in every way. And unbelievably beautiful colors and faces.
Yes static live was correct, seems there was a small outbreak at the show on a few exhibits, not the fault of the exhibitor and it is not an inherent fault , here in the Uk it is a penalisation not a disqualification
The show didn't appear to be very big. Were there many entrants? Glad you had a good stay and show. I always look forward to seeing your new postings. Those white Himalayans were beautiful!!
A combination of really good training by the owners and very experienced judges… there is a video in the playlists shows how to train your Guinea pig to stand for a show
Great video mate. Wonderful to see how shows are run in the UK. Do you perhaps know when the next Real London show is on and if they have a sales corner of Cavy's that is?
@guineapigswithgreg4575 we have one,he's called anothony. He's verry lively. We can't stop him moving long enough to clip his claws. Did you know there are only 4 breeders of magpies in the UK? I got one vid of him sitting on me (vis on my shorts)
