We have been blogging and leaving contributions on Google for quite some time now with over 3.7 million Google Contribution views so far, so thought why not give vlogging a try?
We started our RU-vid channel in 2021 to share vlogs about our travel experiences using a wheelchair to get around. We aimed to share how accessible we find different travel experiences, from a short stay in a basic hotel, a theatre or event through to using transport and full-blown cruise and land-based holidays.
It turns out we have more to say so now include non-accessibility content. We have been travelling for over 30 years so have quite a bit of experience, sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
We hope you enjoy what we have uploaded so far. Perhaps you could hit the subscribe button to spur us on to film and upload some more!
Enjoyed, going on our first cruise next August, Alaska, long wait. Just interested what games available, video poker, and of course bingo. thanks again.
@HayleyandAndy yes, I was able to do that with the hotspot on my Samsung phone, but I switched to the laptops hotspot so she could watch if I took my phone when I left the room. Samsung has a thing where you can turn on the hotspot even with airplane mode on.
Hi there Hayley & Andy’s just found your sites for travel, specifically cruise help. Thank you soooo much. It’s very thorough on the Princess Sky…. Very helpful! I’m in a wheelchair now for any “travel” longer than 30 feet max. I can get around ok in a bedroom or den size room w/o a wc. I’m a larger woman now age 73 vs my age in the picture (high school!) so all of your info is wonderful!! I will be checking out your blogs and fb page too. Thank you again so very much! By the way, I absolutely love your country and the people. I have been blessed to visit there twice due T a very generous friend & lived every min of it & wasn’t ready to come home to Texas (born & raised & I do love it but my next loves are the Colorado mountains & England!!).
Can anyone help? I followed the video instructions. As the last step in adding a Google Chromecast 2 device to the TV, after going through all the setup screens and getting a connection on my Android mobile, the LG TV in the stateroom shows the error message "Check Internet Connection Try restarting your Wi-Fi router or choose a different Wi-Fi network in the Google Home app" (I am connected to MedallionNet Wi-Fi network on my mobile and it works well there). I had the TV in the cabin rebooted remotely by Guest Services. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do or try?
Hi, I have a Samsung S10+ using the latest version of Android 12 which supports the native Google Home app. I have managed to cast from mobile to tv in hotels and on home TV in the past.
Hello, I shall be sailing on Sky Princess next week, I have streaming services I subscribe to including Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video… is there a device you could recommend where I can download content for offline viewing and connect via the HDMI input? I don’t own a Roku but I’m prepared to get one if it achieves my purpose here. Thanks for any advice.
fantastic video, and great to see the help they give you. i myself are disabled and just wondered is there porters available to help get your ludgard from the terminal back to your can as there never was with RCI and my partner struggles
Yes, there were porters there when we went which was a godsend as Hayley is in a wheelchair and managing that and the bags is a nightmare, porters are worths their weight in gold (and a good tip!)
Broooo thank you. I can’t give you enough thumbs ups. I’m on Holland America Nieuw Statendam with the same TVs and was bummed that I was locked out of the HDMI. But the bow cam trick worked like a charm. Thank you thank you.
Great tip thank you works on Saphire princess . The button at bottom of tv brings up the menu , however it only works when you go to bridge cam. To get to bridge cam is different from video. It is accessible via Movies and TV, then go Live Tv
This was helpful! We're travelling on the Regal soon, hopefully it will work out for us. One suggestion I have for others is take a rubber band, then go get a knife from the buffet and rubber band the HDMI plug to the end of the knife. This has worked for me before on other cruise ships for getting in deep behind the TV.
That is a good suggestion, it is quite fiddly to get to the hdmi socket when it is deep behind the tv, I got there with a lot of patience but using a knife and rubber band would certainly help.
Confirmed on the Sapphire Princess! You just saved me my sanity for my 16 day cruise to Antarctica. I used the dock directly with a questionable cable through the middle of the cabin, but your Bridge Cam > HDMI step was the key I needed!
Thanks for sharing this video. I’ve never played bingo before but I’ll be on Ruby Princess soon and I noticed there are a lot of bingo games on the schedule. How much does it cost per game? You showed a lot of different bingo sets, so which one did you buy? Thank you.
Yes, sorry about that! The ramp was ok, much better than on other ships. It came down automatically when the door was fully open and there was enough room to get the wheelchair in and out of the room and onto the balcony.
We had the Princess Plus package which included the drinks, gratuities and wifi and we didnt think it was too bad compared to buying drinks by the glass which was expensive.
@Hayley and Andy thanks for that I will look into it again but the two packages I saw were $76.70 and $100.28 per day respectively including 18% service charge and excludes gratuities and internet, and you can't share. It's the most expensive I have come across on all the cruises we've been on, in fact three times as much.
Thank you so much I was on Caribbean princess six months ago and I forgot about this but I remembered your video so I went and saw it again my TV just had to be took it up to find the bottom input buttons and it’s an LG. Just got on Caribbean princess today and I’m watching on her Majesty’s service 1969 James Bond.
Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work on every ship, but it is worth a go. One you have the 'knack' and the device plugged into the hdmi port its quite easy.
Mine gave me about 20 hours before I needed to charge it again, easily enough for a whole nights viewing and I would just change the powerbank again for the next day.
The ramp to the balcony is nice, something we didn't have on Island Princess. Love the large bathroom! The clothesline was handy for drying bathing suits. Big fan of the HA balcony cabins.
I stayed over the other side in B433 video also on my channel, exactly the same just the other way round also in each light there is a usb so you can charge your phone and no need for extension 👍
Thanks a ton, currently on the Island Princess, and was unable to get full screen until I saw your video. Now if only I can figure out how to set the sleep timer On these LG TV’s
