lmfao The Pistols famously hating the Beatles and John says "yeah man I dig it" like an old unc 💀 bless him and RIP I think Im one of the few that enjoy both the Pistols and the Beatles lmao
He he.. I was 9 years old singing 'I'm a lazy sod' at the top of the stairs, with my Mother at the bottom waving the wooden spoon saying 'what did you say'.. great stuff.
I dont think that John hated the Beatles either, really. He just liked to say he hated things that you werent supposed to hate. Old stuff. Like his "I hate Pink Floyd" t-shirt. When in reality he actually liked Pink Floyd. Quite a lot as well.
Ramones were never intended to be a political band, which by the way is not a fundamental requirement for Punk Rock ... The institution they were rebelling against was the music industry, and the overly produced & complicated product it was putting out.... The Ramones wanted to bring back the style of music they grew up enjoying ---- fast, stripped down, fun, short guitar driven Rock & Roll songs.. They wanted to show you didn't need to be a virtuoso to write a good song... Johnny Rotten's anti government & establishment songs and antics, though bringing him much notoriety didn't make him unique or a trailblazer... Many Bands which provided the soundtrack to the 60s counterculture came before him.
Oh what an awful woman! Well done John for tolerating her ..... How very rude she was!!! Johnny, you are up at the top there, one of the great heroes of this era. You have now been just over one year without your beloved Nora. We wish you well and send our heartfelt love from us in Essex, UK xxxxx Saw you in your show last night. We can only thank you! We left elated but tinged with sadness for you regarding your childhood which you expressed without one iota of self-pity. Let's just say we learnt a lot from you xx
I truly believe John’s sheer force of will was the secret ingredient. His absolute fearlessness was contagious. He pushed an entire generation to question everything that came before.
Middlesborough Rock Garden, October-ish 1977 under the name Acne Rabble. Don't remember it much, it was a stopping off point after a Boro match. There were me and a couple of mates that got separated and we ended up at the Rock Garden. We were about 15 sitting in The Acklam with our flares and football scarves tied round our wrists an fairly long hair, all these punks came in, we hung about to see what was going on. From that day on I was hooked.
Johnny would tell Noel to shut his boring mouth. That bit when he compares Sex Pistols to other rock star bands.Sex Pistols had nothing to do with that.
People talk about Nevermind, Definitely Maybe etc as generation defining records, but they both fall into the bargain bucket when you compare it to NMTB. The greatest debut album by any band ever.
Only 2 musicians what a load of shite. Matlock played and wrote a big part of the music. Stop smearing this man’s legacy he was key part of the Pistols history.
The Ramones never drank The Sex Pistols pee tho' did they? "God Save The Queen" was a publicity stunt. Whoda thunk self-proclaimed punkest, punker who ever punked would go from... "No Bush in the tush" TO "Yes Trump up the rump"
Noel Gallagher is an arrogant bastard Liam as well, but I’ve always respected the fact that they were never afraid to praise their influences. They’re true fans
