rvana, but i have no problem not like him,to wait for the junkband sex pistols. They came, they sang, they puked, they neveer came on again with alot of important records, where is it?
relax,he was just high.,after having smoked a good strong pipe of crack cocaine, remember, hes a musician. And then he got nostalgic, and said he would throw all eleven albums out for one sex pistolalbum.Thats being high as a big rock of crack cocaine in your lungs!Halleluja!
Whoever that Dan is he's talking crap.it IS and always be the best LP in the May I say world I was only 9 when I first heard it and that was me Hooked and even now it's still my favourite LP
I love the sex pistols and my life would be not worth living if it weren't for them but I get annoyed when Noel calls it the best album of all time because it isn't. Although it saved alot of kids and gave them a voice, musically it hadn't influenced many people worth mentioning. Yes every punk band from around them were inspired by the pistols but punk isn't a thing anymore. Let go of the past and keep working on the future, it's all very well wishing for another sex pistols or you could go out and make a difference.
@BestCanKeanRob2 Stands on its own merit. The hype came after along with the copycats. Then PiL. Shame Johnny has bought into Trump and his laissez faire capitalist horseshit. But hey. Anyway glad another soul like yourself loves the album beyond like you say the normal level you feel even on a good album.
Same with me. There was a handful of records I've had in my life where the energy and power had that kind of impact on me and shaped the rest of my life in terms of what I've listened to since. NMTB was one. Powerage by AC/DC was another.
In 300 years time The 20th c. history books will show Elvis, Beatles and the Sex Pistols. Beginning Middle End. Don't get me wrong. There's plenty of awesome new music. But noone will care.
Michael Mitchell been saying that for years the Pistols gave a good kick up the backside to the music industry when it needed it, and now with all this x factor shit and all the other crap thats come from Cowell’s corner the music industry needs a shotgun to it
Nowadays, the famous bassplayer in Nirvana, said it so to the point, and true,we dont ever again have to make a war if people both dig Deep Purple and the Ramones, and we dont care if they listen to for instance Suzanne Vega. The times they are achangin, and ive seen the whole documentary, except the last five minutes, and i know enough of punkmusic to have to hear it all, before i come with my answer to you,and im not trying to discuss or be unfriendly, its just my statement, and that was also to you tube who twice removed me while writing, and we dont have to hide the truth, let the people know you tube, for good or for worse.
If you think alot of music is crap, its your right not to listen to them, its like you are talking about a naggin footballclub enemy. Its ok to be committed, but there are a border.
Johny2bikes No. I was saying the same thing as a kid in the late 80’s when all that hair metal garbage was happening prior to Nirvana and so-called Grunge putting it out of our misery. I said it then and I say it now. Fuck your age or your era. There’s good shit and there’s garbage and most of today’s stuff is garbage. Facts.
@Johny2bikes I see more and more young people reacting to "old "music on youtube and saying how amazing it is compared to what is produced now. Sure kids have the right to listen to what they want, but just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.
Totally agree with Noel Gallagher. I heard "Bodies" when I was 8 years of age. I was shocked. I still get shivers when I hear it now. This was it, my musical interest was ignited by this album. Still love it now 40 odd years later
@@Captainbeesting Oasis made the claim in a 1996 MTV interview, saying that their albums 'Definitely Maybe' and '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' meant that they were bigger than The Beatles. Took 5 seconds Guy.
@@chroniclesofbap6170 1996? Is that still thinks? No. Openly admits in interviews this century that he is an average songwriter compared to McCartney, Lennon, Dylan et al. He was right in some respects that those 2 first albums were better than the Beatles first 2 albums, that's a matter of opinion though. It's all subjective, guy.
Morg Ellon The B-52's were very important to Lennon. Hearing Kate's and Cindy's vocals made him think Yoko's atonal vocal shrieks could become popular.
@@plejady Yes. I'm not familiar with Pakistani music, though. I just mentioned those two bands because I love Madness and the B-52's. I do listen to some Moroccan music. The Master Musicians of Joujouka are pretty awesome. They're like a several-hundred-year-old band. They didn't always go by that name; William Burroughs or Brion Gysin first called them that. Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones recorded with them, as did Psychic TV and some other people, probably.
Sol Cutta Such an easy, obvious thing to say. Don’t forget he gave them a contract and the means to operate when no one else would touch them with a barge pole. Without Branson, punk certainly wouldn’t have been the force it was - and all you can come out with is the ‘we hate rich people’ line. So predictable.
Marcdoubleu22LFC He nearly went to jail for breaking the law many times in the early days and only got out of it because his parents put up massive bail.
Marcus Blue Wolf I know he did a few shady things to get going in the early days, I heard he was running around to phone boxes all round London conducting shady deals here and there but he did alright out of it lol.
Nathan McCormick no it wasn’t, he was already broosted by that time partly through tubular bells album by Mike oldfield and fingers in other pies, the bollocks did earn him another decent crust as well though.
Ramones had the same time,in 77 to come forth, and they didnt respect Johnny Rotten.Gave him a beer, they all had pissed in.Maybe a token of love,or what do you think you illiterate, unmusical, dumb shits,im allowed anything before that guy comes forth again calling me Mark Chapman,Thats cruel!!!And you tube hiding it,i will stop my premium ,if they let him write such a statement.Ill not support a idiotic label like you tube,if they prefer to have me lied upon.
Okay, here's the point I want to make. There was a big difference between punk rock and new wave. Punk rock was violent- that is if you weren't musical. New wave was stylish and colorful. It was much easier to be identified as new wave cause there was much less burden of uniformity. If you were a punker in 1977 it was a drastic commitment. "Where's your safety pin earings and your buzz cut dyed hair?" The problem was that whole self-social experiment had no traction if you weren't Sid Viscous.
The Sex Pistols ‘rock n roll swindle’ is the ‘only’ album that I actually remember listening to for the first time..i remember putting it on the turntable and listening to the whole thing..a turning point in my life musically
Seeing this clip reminds me of the intro that Lydon did for the "Beware of Mister Baker" documentary. "This film is about Ginger Baker, a man who stands for something in life that probably most of you do NOT!" The same can be applied to John Lydon himself.
Had to learn a Pistols song for the set before the next gig. 1978. It was a weird mix with suffragette city and space truckin also on the set list but it changed everything for future gigs.
NMDB is arguable the most important rock album ever released; musically, but especially lyrically. Not to speak of it's cultural importance. This comes out as a very un-punk comment, but I don't care!
It meant something to art students and middle class trendies there was not one punk rocker at my school in the seventies in a hard core working class area
@@johnmilligan6605'It' meant nothing then. You weren't in the U.K.when everyone had had enough of the class divide, and the need to want out of mainstream society. I was the product of a working class family. We weren't 'hard core', just very confused.
I was at summer camp when I was 13 in 1986 when an older kid kept playing this alien song over and over again. AiUK. My life hung a hard left and has never been the same since. No sycophantic hyperbole in any of these interviews. Especially now since music will get worse and worse because technology has replaced talent.
Punk toughened everything up again when it was all getting very safe and tired. Acid House did a similar thing in 1987/8 when pop music was cringingly tedious. These days perhaps the problem is that anyone can put a tune streaming services, and there's so much music that's there's no real mutuality or fashion anymore that can be upset by bands like the Sex Pistols?
Noel Gallagher according to Wikipedia enjoys some of the songs on the very first album by Genesis - and John Lydon loves Peter Hammill which makes them even cooler in my book . That’s now 3 kids from a Council House who appreciate those artists 😁😇🏴❤️
Never Mind the Bollocks I didn't get it until after Punk had ended and now I think it's one of the greatest albums ever made. The anger and energy comes through like nothing before or nothing since and it's far more intelligent than I realised. I'm also a fan PiL.John is still a force to be reckoned with. Long may he reign!
the music that the pistols were playing didnt create new music. There is nothing new in pistols music, and their swearingbhavent changed a thing, you still get a fine from the police if you call them idiots.etc. etc.
Never mind it being a great "punk" album; it rocks harder....Much harder than almost all "rock" albums, even now! The axe is sublime and the lyric will last forever. (I see 100 muzzled potential H bombs walking round the supermarket everyday)

The sex pistols claimed they would destroy popular music ....... I hope they are happy now when anyone can get famous and talent and ability mean nothing
I personally think Noel Gallagher is overrated, but he is spot on about the album cover...I wasn't allowed it as a kid.But rest assured when I was older I bought it and I proudly show it in my record collection..
therre is nothing in it than something they took from the rocknroll mould, nothing more,i dont cry over the punk is dead, but the sex pistols are not as good as Ramones or some innovative bands as Burma etc.
@@apolloton1 Dont you know they started in blood, sweat and tears in 74,as the first punkband, instead of the slow and grim as the weather in London, with the sex pistols, that Ramones actually pissed in Rottens beer!Hahah!!!
I just listened to my copy for first time in years. EVERY.SINGLE.WORD is designed for maximum impact. There isn't a stray syllable in the entire lp. The lyrics are stunning. Written by a 21 year old homeless kid, fronting 3 other homeless kids. An illiterate thief as guitarist. WTH...
I truly believe John’s sheer force of will was the secret ingredient. His absolute fearlessness was contagious. He pushed an entire generation to question everything that came before.
PUNKISINTHEDETAILS sid vicious was a talentless piece of shit, even Johnny rotten, and the other members felt bad when they kicked sid outta the band, cause Sid didn’t know how to play bass or any instrument,he just strummed random shit, the guitarist had to play the bass on the record cause sid was truly talentless, and not to mention he stabbed his girlfriend, his image is not punk,he was just a punk wannabe dumbass
@@Sploikerstriker and thanks for spotting that and not going off on a rant about the tragic character human Sid. Regardless of his lack of playing skills human Sid was Johns best friend. Very sad.

There are important bands that are seminal, and then there are bands that directly force a change onto society itself. I don't think anyone can dispute that the Sex Pistols were the latter.
I don't know why Glen Matlock is written out of the story. He wrote and played as the only capable musician, and there's this story that 3-chords played badly Steve Jones played lead AND bass and only he and Cook were "musicians"? Riiight! Thank Chris Spedding too. ;?))
Glen is credited for writing songs. But I do not think he was involved in the recording process (at least not for the actual studio album) and oddly enough Sid’s bass on Bodies is “buried” somewhere in the song... so he even has more work recording on that album than Glen lol...
Quite a compliment from Noel Gallagher, who is not a bad songwriter, singer and musician himself. It's quite obvious that most of Oasis's early stuff had a Pistols influence, in addition to the Beatles (the latter of which only seemed to be mentioned by the music press). Even more respectful from Gallagher, given that Lydon slagged off Oasis back in the early 2000's.
@@seanmcglynn3638 John Lydon was in the Sex Pistols and PIL... Lou Reed went solo, so that doesn't really count... Joy Division became New Order... I'd agree with you on that one.
People talk about Nevermind, Definitely Maybe etc as generation defining records, but they both fall into the bargain bucket when you compare it to NMTB. The greatest debut album by any band ever.
you know....bringing sid into the band was a mistake but also a spectacular aspect....i read an article once, sid didn't even play bass properly but jhonny likes his attitude....
GLEN MATLOCK ... why is nobody talking about MATLOCK ? Jones, Cook, Matlock and Lydon, The Sex Pistols ! Sid was absolutely nothing to do with them musically.
I've got an original bollocks album bought from the shop in Nottingham, where it was removed from the window after a policeman deemed it an offensive word. Oh no it isn't!
