Usually, the manufacturer of that sort of scales will warn of the necessity to operate it on a HARD flat surface for reliability of results.

Get to the point. You spend too much time telling us how we can’t do it. We are not getting any younger.

I am 85 and active and have avoided many falls using my rules which I think trump yours. Rule 1 Awareness - be aware of the dangers in your environment such as wet or slippery stairs leading to shops, subways etc. and do not walk where tree roots can trip you up or on uneven surfaces etc.etc. Rules 2. Anticipation - think through your actions before you make them. For example I see people using step ladders sideways on the the window they want to clean rather than facing it which gives the stability needed. Rule 3 - it is no use practicing your step forward routine if you are going to trip up backwards like my 80 year old neighbours who backed into a rolled up carpet when cleaning the floor and broke her femur. You need to train your brain to react to falls in any direction. Rule 4 - learn how to break your fall with your hands. Rule 5 - learn how to get up after a fall or carry a phone or device to be able to call for help, especially when walking alone in the woods etc.

What about pulling exercises ? Also, is it necessary to have a day's rest between sessions, or can they be done daily ?

I’m 54 and I do single leg jumps and two leg jumps as a part of basketball drill session. I do 3 reps for each of 4 jump types with 70-90% power. Then my lower body is sore for next two days. Should I wait until the soreness is gone? When I did it every day, I got Achilles tendon injury within a few months.

Thanks for these. Recovering from a hip replacement (8 weeks out, and now able to actually do these exercises), looking for suggestions to prevent/reverse sarcopenia, since this is what motivated me to go for the hip replacement. (Not wanting to end up in a wheelchair!) I don't even have to do the test. I can get up from the floor... slowly! But I appreciate how we need this type of exercise as well as the slow strength-building type.
