I have a celestron 9.25 standard SCT (non-Edge version). and my imaging camera is ZWO ASI 071MC. will this corrector do end-end coma correction? will my imaging frame be bigger than the corrector-circle, leaving the edges non corrected (and correction happens only in center)? because that is what is currently happening with my meade 0.63x corrector
@krisztiangulyas5068
@krisztiangulyas5068 Год назад
I've seen many guys in astronomy forums using this corrector with C9.25 + ASI2600 cameras (APS-C size) and works quite well! Stock 0,63x reducers (Celestron, Meade) are for visual observing. I've got a C11 + Celestron 0,63x reducer using with a modified APS-C Canon 650D. Almost half of the field of view is garbage, full of coma error. I'm planning to buy this 0.63x Starizona reducer, because it works great with C11 + APS-C size sensors. Look for this video: "Starizona SCT Corrector - Full Review". There's a great comparsion of this reducer and Celestron reducer in the video.

What is the name or the item number of that DSLR camera adaper? I can't find it in Starizona's webshop. The backfocus of the corrector is 90,3 mm. The DSLR sensor sits 45mm deep inside the Canon DSLR camera body, so that must be something 45,3 mm long.

Just came across this and it is helpful. However, while a point is made to not lose data in the lower end with the red slider, the same is true for the higher end. The examples shown the final product has stars that are all white because the color information in bright objects is lost by aggressive stretching to bring out the dimmer parts. If you want color in your stars, don't apply a log stretch on clipped high end data, be sure to include it all by moving the green slider all the way to the right. This is where MaxIM DL is not the best, take the result and put it in Photoshop for final application of curves and saturation adjustments. Otherwise, the big advantage to MaxIM DL is that all of the processes in this video can be automated with a script, making it one button.

I'd like to add that methanol is a very toxic substance, and is quite easily absorbed through the skin. It's also very volatile. Good ventilation, gloves and eye protection are highly encouraged when working with it, even in small amounts.

@lespoy445
@lespoy445 Год назад
I heard that the procedure, if care is not taken with this installation or when moving the scope, that pulling or tripping on the cords to the camera, not having the counter balancer on it, she'll does a nose dive and break the corrector glass. It's a tragedy best to avoid. Can you think of anymore final destination scenarios where this could go wrong? I'd be interested for your input. I will have a CPC 925 deluxe HD and pro wedge mount, soon and I was very interested in this Hyperstar conversion idea for faster focal imaging, but thinking maybe there is another option worth affording. The guy at the store gave me a warning about this.

So a make shift RASA
@joeshmoe7967
@joeshmoe7967 Год назад
Not really. More like having one scope do double duty for considerably less $$$. One OTA, one Mount. Use the scope visually, or for high magnification photography, switch to the hyperstar for wide field photography. With RASA, you would either go through the hassle of switching OTA on the mount, or the expense of another mount along with the cost of the RASA. If money was no obstacle, I would own multiple rigs, but hyperstar is a great option, at less than half the cost of just a RASA OTA (8 inch), and way way less then half if the 11 or 14 inch RASA are considered. 36cm (14 inch) RASA well over $10K...hyperstar, under $2K - Cheers

It's a good thing to quickly cool down the scope from a large temperature difference. However, the air being cooled is being pulled through the motor which is several Watts in power, which acts like a several Watts heater to the primary mirror. So, the mirror will always be somewhat warmer than the outside air, no matter how long you cool your scope with CoolEdge.
@hdr96k
@hdr96k Год назад
Not true. With my experience the fan does not add any temperature to the secondary mirror. The secondary is being cooled with the same temperature air as the primary, the only theoretical opportunity to heat the secondary would be the few seconds when you are removing it. This doesn't happen . Verified with a thermal gun. Your statement is inaccurate.
@rosaluks644
@rosaluks644 Год назад
@@hdr96k I have thermocouples installed on the mirror and the outside. The difference in temperature is always 1 - 1.5C (the mirror is hotter), no matter for how long the fan is run.
