You can’t have world class fishing while selling water. Augusta, Brontë, Arthur’s and more have been ruined by the rise and fall of water levels as we sell power to Victoria. Why doesn’t anyone do a vid on the realities of fishing in Tas, most rivers have been ‘damned’ and have worsening water quality due to dairy run off. Thankfully you haven’t upset the locals I like another Tasmanian guide who has stolen parts of our WHA just to make a quick buck
@@trouttalestasmania I’m afraid I tried for a number of hours and had two takes near the reeds and missed them both. Stopped for a couple of hours at little pine on the way home today and had 6 takes on the pot scrubber nymph under the dry. Disappointingly I landed none of those. Was too tough on one of them and another took me straight into to the weeds and broke a couple of others. So, pretty poor form from this weekend! Super keen to get back to little pine though.
@andrewbrown2254 At least you saw enough action to get excited for the next trip! Well done on hooking into a few. If you find you’re breaking off regularly, don’t be afraid to increase tippet strength a bit. In breezy or overcast weather (common on Little Pine) the the fish won’t see slightly heavier tippet 👍
Works really well on some days (if the conditions and time of year are right). Always try natural drifts first, but sometimes imparting some movement on your flies will bring the fish undone 👍
Thanks for the vid. Was great! Struggled up there last weekend but I blame the kids and their noise 😂. With your three flies, what distance apart do you have them? I normally use 2 but thinking of trying 3. Cheers.
Thanks Andrew, glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully you have better luck next time you head up! I generally space the flies 5ft apart, with about 8ft between your top fly and your fly line. Cheers.
Had the great Bill Beck as my guide when I came over to fish stayed in his shack on The Pine had a great time fishing the fish factory as Bill called little Pine loved the trip the Highlands probably one of the best wild trout fishing in the world enjoyed the video.
Awesome that you had the chance to spend some time with the great man! And yes, there aren’t too many better trout fisheries than the Tasmanian Highlands. Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
