Thanks for another great lesson! You mentioned this doesn't work for minor chords. Is there a parallel lesson that does work with minor chords? Thanks.
you're the first guitar teacher that i can tell is a real teacher in real life and not some dude who decided to make some videos about scales for money
Sir - you are an amazing player and teacher… i recently found your channel and i am using your ideas all the time. I am even practicing… holy moly! thank you much
Coming back to guitar after almost a decade away and I'm completely sold on this approach Blue! Do you have a beginner playlist either on here or your Patreon one could use to work through your checklist?
I quite like it, but it would make our lives easier if you just said "hit this/that chord once, twice/three times on fret one, two, three and so on" and thrown that pencil and the too unnecessary talking in the garbage can!
This is such a great lesson. Thank you so much. Just starting to play with flat picking and your teaching style, clarity, explanations and pace are absolutely perfect. Can’t tell you how much your gift of teaching inspires me to keep playing and practicing.
Fulltone went out of business back in 2022… however (very ironic timing) they’re back! A few months ago it was announced they were bringing certain pedals back into production. One being the OCD 👌🏼 ps. Love your videos!
All good points. EVH was a master of this. Often only playing 3 or 2 notes in the rhythm sections really helped make his simple 3-piece band (plus a vocalist - but just 3 instruments) sound huge. You rarely saw him playing big-ass 6 string barre chords or full open position cowboy chords. I think too many guitarists in a band play the same way they do when they are playing by themselves and trying to create a full accompaniment sound with just the guitar.
Serious question: Is the audio/video out of sync for anyone else on this video? I found this really hard to watch and concentrate because it's out of sync for me. Ive played it twice through now and it's been the same both times.
Whenever I play, I play with intent and meaning. Seems to work for me 🙂 That being said, practice isn't something to take lightly. But it takes time to "scale" those mountains haha. Good stuff, Blue.
Thank you Blue! I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel. I’m learning a lot. You have a very effective teaching technique. Simple, bite-sized concepts with good illustrations. I like the occasional shot of your pup too. Thanks again.

'Define 'Best?' - Weeell??? ' i chuckled so hard at this. it always the Definition of the thing, right. i know what good sounds like, but finger speed to be an average 'good guitarist' ?... no idea. and thank for answer in my Q'.
The easiest way i have found is up two frets down two strings this works for the first four strings hi e same as low e that covers 5 of the strings so to say if A IS FIFTH FRET THEN ON THE FOURTH STRING SEVENTH FRET IS ALSO A THIS WORKS FOR THE TOP FOUR STRINGS AND 5TH HI E JUST LEAVES THE B STRING IS ODD MAN OUT
When playing over a 12 bar blues I thought you were supposed to target the root when playing over the 1 chord, the 4th when playing over the 4 chord and the 5th when playing over the 5 chord?
I always hated the pentatonic scale. If I visualize the pentatonic scale on the neck, I'm already sunk. My playing sounds pentatonic. I can't get out of my own head. While playing to a backing track, If I use the G string to slide into a note and bend if necessary to get a note that sounds good, I am gold. I'm starting to see where the notes on the neck are, but it no longer rules me because I can pick up any major progression fairly easily. The G major scale mapped on the G string allows me to find other major scales and many minor scales by intervals. I don't know modes, so those progressions are usually a fail. But, using backing tracks, I find it hard to put my guitar down now. My melodic, lilting (slow)😝solos with very short less slow speed bursts are personally rewarding to listen to and play. I would like longer and faster bursts of speed, but I'm ok as I am right now. My goal is Neal Schon or Steve Lukather type melodic solos. I was a drummer and a singer, so I like my solos to sing as well.😍🤩
It's 1am. I'm a beginner guitar player. My phone send me the notification fkr this video, but ive never heard of this channel. I'm also Canadian so I opt to check it out. A few minutes in and I'm subscribing and itching to wstch another, but it's 1am and I have work in the morning. You did such a wonderful job explaining things, and I had a couple aha moments. Thank you!
