Learn how to create epic long lines in your solos similar to Slash of Guns n Roses, using the switch back technique. A common way of changing fingering of Minor Pentatonic to mix up the notes and by doing so, create a more interesting and longer ascending line up the fretboard.

Most of the time I'm guilty of passively consuming youtube, but on this occasion I sat down with my guitar and followed the lesson in detail. Then spent an hour soloing over backing tracks using the switchback technique. The result was amazing, my solos are suddenly faster and more fluid. Thank you for a great lesson 😊.

when switching from one string to another on the same fret I just naturally finger roll which I believe results in much less movement than changing fingers. I do use the 2nd finger on extensions. I respect you as an instructor so I'll play with this some and see what happens. (the jam at 10:50 reminds me of Godzilla by BOC. Go go godzilla!)

Good point. I tend to do the finger roll when descending the scale as in this lesson ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GT-LSqGweeM.htmlsi=DNGX2k3FS57SmIcN

That's amazing Blue! I've seen videos of Slash doing that, but I couldn't work it out before. Thanks so much for blowing me away again! 🤯

That´s a lot of fun to play!😃 It somehow reminds me of the song "Life in the Fast Lane" by the Eagles. Great Lesson, thank you!

ok I like your channel; and I have a question-- How do we increase the speed on our fretting hand, most instruction out there doesn't work, or the teacher says that it doesn't matter right now and side tracks the student from the question.. I am not looking toe shredder fast- but I need a little more speed ( say Gilmore type fast) - any thoughts

Next lesson on the opposite direction please, just as cool as Tim Pierce does 😀
@GuitarLessonsVancouver
@GuitarLessonsVancouver 8 месяцев назад
Not sure what Tim Pierce does, but I do have a video on the descending version. I tend to do a roll in that case -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GT-LSqGweeM.html

This particular technique is not in the second book, but lots of other great ideas are in there :) The second book picks up where Book 1 ends, focusing on Major Pentatonic: www.bluemorris.com/shop

Another great less Blue. The muscle memory is starting to kick in and it's feeling more natural adding the extra finger to make the solo's less "scaley".

I already been doing this without knowing what I was doing. It got me out of that box pentatonic sound. Thanks Blue. What gauge strings do use? I’ve got small hands.
@GuitarLessonsVancouver

Cool thanks! I normally use 10 gauge strings. But 9s are good too.
