Hello, unfortunately, any steel near the magnet will affect the accuracy. You need to use aluminum, other non-ferrite materials, or high-permeability steel.
Could yuou possibly add a stylus to this too, like with 3DSystems and HaptikFabriken haptic devices? Also, can you possibly open this up to open source and DIY in the future, telling us how to make the controller from scratch too but also selling it and a kit for constructing so you can also still keep making money at the same time?

I have a USB-Can adapter from Peak, but was wondering if you know or can recommend any lowish-cost CanOpen device to learn the protocol with? SG-CNE-TTL , GCAN4128? Even basic CanOpen temperature sensors are $400+ !! I think with the right software that uses SocketCan (CanFestival, Lely CANopen, CanOpenNode, CANopen for Python), one can monitor and control a CanOpen device,.. but haven't found any actual examples of people doing that, so not sure if it's not that easy, or if there's a better way.
Hello @bennguyen1313, thank you for the question. We also use Peak, and we don't have cheaper recommendations. From our experience quality is very important, and Peak provides it. We have experience with CanOpenNode, and it works great, but I can't tell you more about other ones.
If you just want to learn about canopen buy any St nucleo board and a can transceiver. Use canopennode to implement your own canopen slave device and connect to it using a USB to can Adapters. This is the most affordable method I know to get started with the canopen protocol.
The parameter is set as a 32bit value. The limits are maximum motor torque, the frequency of the system vibrations, and other mechanical limitations. More information you can find in the MD80 manual: www.mabrobotics.pl/servos
