I'd like to know how this was recorded. It was 1974. It's obviously a bootleg but considering the time it clearly demonstrates the greatness of this band. RIP Keith and Greg.
Undertones were simply brilliant, the number of great (short) songs is something to behold...and its all over in under 40 minutes.I love this concert. Imagine being there 🤯 Thanks
Phenomenal performance here. This is interesting because it’s obviously before they added Eelco Gelling, for the dual guitar attack. GE’s live album from 1977 is sooooo terrifyingly great.
Nothing wrong with a live audience but I hope that a software can be developed to filter it out or at least put it more into the background. For years such things where impossible but since noise can already be removed excellently, as has been done here, it is not a daft concept anymore. I am saying this because the recording as such sounds very decent, notwithstanding the odd tape munching artifact. So thanks for the restoration efforts but I for one would like to be able to concentrate more on the great performances.
I still have this LP, although I have played it till it's worthless, I'm sure. I don't know if I've ever come across a more momentous work! The only thing I can think of that's close might be Quadrophenia or Tommy, both by the Who. While both of those are certainly works of art, as far as I'm concerned the Lamb lies Down beats all comers
More I listen to it the more the show grows on me this album has such a huge impression on me I still think the Necromancer is my favorite all-time Rush song. And they just nailed it and I'm sure the audience was absolutely in all and shocked by what they had just witnessed just absolutely throttled by that rock Trio knowing in just a few years they would explode. Alex is tearing it up In the show. I guess cuz you can hear him so well but he is flawless. This is when I think Geddy's voice was at his best and 2112! Neil is as usual the king of the kit. You are missed dearly NEP, never gorget!. From The Necromancer to bytor and the snow dog
Saw the same show at the Jahrhunertalle in Frankfurt Germany even recorded it still have the tape it was a fantastic show this was in 73or 74 have to go look at the ticket
I was at this concert, if it was the one where they opened for Deep Purple. My older sister was babysitting me, her boyfriend wanted her to go, so they had to take me. I was in the third or fourth grade and went to Luther Burbank school.
Congrats on 1M views and still going 10 years later. If any young bright spark can somehow upgrade this ( AI Tools? ) please ask permission and carry on! Imagine this cleaned up and in 4K!
I think the big issue with Caress of Steel was that the production quality was a bit 'flabby ' , a little restrained when compared to its' predecessor Fly by Night - but it's amazing how much more powerful the songs sound live ! Outstandingly brilliant! But then again Rush always are! 👏👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟 😃
I was there. My first acid trip. purple microdot. Quadraphonic. Three semi's of equipment. Eddie Offord controlling sound. Bat-winged Moog. Rotating keyboard seat. Lake on Persian carpet. Mountains of Leslies. Most amazing.
You don’t say! Trev never meant to replace Steve FWIW. He originally was part of a whole new band until the labels got involved! Either way they still kicked ass with high caliber musicianship
Speaking gospel @dukealbert7017 No offense to @tommyd1871, not sure if you are aware of how this lineup actually came to be, if you do and you still don’t like it that’s fair. Such a great recording @dukealbert7017 Thank you so much for sharing! Overall I prefer Big Generator over 90125, if that’s blasphemy, so be it!
Oh what beautiful music. If only I were older, I would've been there. I'd like to meet those two French geezers too! "If it rains Phil'll fix it!" What a band, probably the best in the world, ever.
Never discovered the Tones until much later like everyone at some point you find something old that is new to you. That is the beauty of music! Saw them live at Solfest festival in 2007 i think it was. They were a bit older but absolutely amazing to see,Fergal was wearing a cool t shirt with Patrick Magoohan as Prisoner. Will never forget it. Armed with a can of beer and a rolly,i was bopping thought the whole set as it was so energy fueled! Big up!!!
