Thanks Heather for the positive comment It was quite hot and humid that day but we took plenty of water with us and had plenty of stops on the way up that helped.😰😰😰💦🚰
Very Tyrolean 😄 Lovely and bright for your video too. It’s a fair haul up there. Well done all! I was thinking about it as walked from Stronachlacher pier to try Ben Choin (?) . We failed due to lack of track, loads of holes, bogs and bugs!😂 Atb…Terry
We had intended to do it as a loop walk down to the side of Loch Katrine at Ellens Isle on an old trail but alas there's new deer fencing and plantation in the way so it was a linear walk back to the car park, Cheers terry 🥃
I lived on Holy Isle for 4 years. This was a nicely put-together video and as you found out it is a proper walk with a tricky descent. The views on a fine day are superb though. The gardens around the retreat centre in the summer are like paradise so for anyone visiting in the future make sure you check them out.
Hiya Bill. What's cracking walk. The lovely forest paths taking you down to the loch..Fab place for a cookout or even a wild swim for sure. That was a great find on invertrosachs house. They should never have let it go to ruin. Typical though 🤦♂️ That boathouse is something from a Thomas Kincaid painting...which I could paint or draw properly ahahah. Great shots, lovely walking and fab photo of the 3 of you ..but no shoulder cam lol lol Speak soon sir. Take care Happy hiking as always 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🥃🥃
There are so many tracks and trails in that area Lorna is very popular with walkers and cyclists there's something for all levels of walkers you would enjoy walking there I'm sure Lorna, Aberfoyle is only 7 miles away as is Callander the other way great for Campers (within camping Management Zone ) Take Care 💚
Nice walk and map reading is something Im totally isless at. Thatband compass reading not a clue 😂😂. Thats why I dont lead walking groups ahahahah I suppose its something we should all have an understanding of. Ill look to Terry if Im out with him on a plod ahahahha. Cant belive we are in June and its been rain and cold Are we even in Summer yet? 😂🤔😂 Good to see over the shoulder cam and a wee bonus of walking pole cam ahahha. This lookee another nice walk. I like how you said on the description about the changing weather added charm...it looked wet in places and sometimes its not charming when the hoods up and the head is down lol lol. Nice relaxing video as always sir. Take it easy and happy hiking as always 👍🫡👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🥃🥃
Great stuff Bill and well done ladies. Nice looking hike. What a difference the weather makes, eh? I’m about to offer a couple of maps and compasses to volunteers on my walk today in Ireland 🇮🇪. I’ve got bearings written on the map and hope they’ll get comfortable setting the compass. Just hope I’ve got them right😂. Have a super Saturday all!
It was a good walk Terry and a bit of fun map reading thrown in, we managed to dodge most of the showers, enjoy your walk and I hope the sun shines on you have a great day !!🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂
Class looking video and what a nice walk. The forest and the waterfalls were brilliant. As you know I'm not a hillwalker so this appeals. Was this part of the Rob Roy Way at all? Callander is not too far from me so maybe a wee day out there in the Summer is what's called for. Enjoyed this. Keep at it sir and happy hiking as ever 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Hi Scott no that walk wasn't on the Rob Roy Way it was just a local walk nearby Callander there are numerous walks you can do here all starting from the town, including the Rob Roy Way it's a super area for walkers and cyclists and if you want to climb a mountain Ben Ledi is within walking distance of the town, keep on exploring Scott 👍🥃🥃🥾🥾
Hi Lorna yes the area has so many trails and cycleways Aberfoyle many years ago used to be the hub for walking in the area and at the end of the days walking folk used to meet up in the Bailie Nicol Jarvie pub and talk about their day's adventure but alas the Bailie Nicol Jarvie is no more all gone and replaced with flats 😥but the great trails and walks are still there 😃
It sure is a lovely area and full of naval history Lorna and worthy of another visit in better weather lots to see and do in Dartmouth and the surrounding area along the river Dart.🌧🚂
Fab looking walk as always. This one intrigues me. I would like to say Inwalked around another island other than Millprt so having some decent paths around Bute amd some stunning coastline features looks brilliant. Have you walked the entire coast of Bute. I fancy Arrran as well for a complete circuit..maybe with a tent but the ferry situation is dire just now. Which should never happen ro island communities. Is the ferries OK to Rothsay just now? Gret looking hike. Yeah you also did shoulder cam a couple of time ahahah. I have to ask what is that wee white unit on your shoulder? Great views and brilliant video as always sir. Keep on hiking. Speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
The walk was a circular one on the south end of Bute Scott, and is a beautiful walk/hike in good weather very scenic I haven't walked all of the coast still got the northeast coast to do. The whole of the island is steeped in history Scott from the standing stones to St Micheals Chapel and St Blane Monastery and much much more . The ferries are running to the online programme at the moment so no problems there, The Wee unit on my shoulder is a flashing light so you can be seen in the dark very useful at night.🥃🥃👍👍🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂take care
The views were great for sure and maybe in the coming months you can show off more of the island with myself and Terry. You will def be leader on that walk. To walk around and island is always a nice thing to say and feel only then has it been conquered. The ferries situation does concern me at times with plans this year for an adventure or two. It can't be great for the communities that live on them. Nice wee gadget with the light. You will be lit up like Vegas. Bringing a little showbiz to the hikes lol lol Speak soon sir. Happy hiking as always 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
@BillJohnstonRambler That would seriously be awesome. A grand tour and a days adventure awaits. Both yourself and Terry know all the best places for a hike and I'll bring just the biscuits and a few jokes for the day ahahahah. And who knows maybe even a wee pint for you both 👍😉👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
It certainly was for me Lorna doesn't get any easier when your 81 really struggled on this one but it turns out I had the beginning of a chest infection Lol ! 👍
What a nice walk. Right along the river is so relaxing. Bet your didn't think you would need a headtorch on such a blue sky and sunny day ahahahah. Bet there was a few great banana break stops. The weather is getting better and better and I feel an adventure day for us is getting near lol. I'm disappointed though there was only a wee second of shoulder cam normal its longer and has subtle branding of your Osprey bag which you should have a sponsor with🤔🎒😄 Another great walk. Keep on hiking as always sir. Speak soon 👍😄👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🥃
Recognised bits of the trail Bill. Lots water n in the Tweed - definitely wouldn’t like to fall in’ . Always nice to get back to town for a hot coffee and a scone. Cheers to all!
Hi Lorna its a lovely walk along the banks of the tweed, but the walk for the recce was very muddy after all the rain they had over the last few days Peebles itself is a lovely market town really do enjoy visiting there . Thanks for liking my new channel name I thought it was a bit more appropiate given we hop on and off ferries LOL, Take Care Lorna and roll on the sunshine. .
Hi Bill I thought I had commented already on this walk but don't think the comment sent 🤔🤦♂️ anyway...What a cracking looking walk. Those views on a day like this were brilliant. Varied walking as well and liked the over the shoulder cam lol although I think Osprey should pay you to promote their name lol lol. You could always ask them. Great sharing as always. Happy hiking and speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Another brilliant walk. I have actually never gone up Knock Hill. With those views, I think I need to plan a trip. The latter part of your walk through Noddsdale is very interesting. Such a lot of history in a relatively small area.
thanks for watching we were very fortunate with the weather and it was reasonably challenging given the undulations in the walk and yes the whole area is steeped in history old and new.👍
We were so lucky with the weather Lorna and they had all just got back from the Group holiday in Nerja so it was good for them to see a bit of sunshine at home.😎☀
*_It looks like a great hiking day with lots of nice conversations and great landscapes. The Formakin house looks very nice. I love the snowdrops, the horses too, as well as the occasional views over the countryside. Many thanks for this and greetings from Germany_*
Nice walk especially through the Estate. Great to see all the snowdrops. You know spring is on it's way. I love to meet horses and donkeys. Very enjoyable walk for all. 💙
Very nice walk. Looked really relaxed and no huge slogs up any hills. Good one to start with at the start of the year. Yhe snowdrops were amazing. That is the statt of Spring and I for one cant wait. Bringhter, longer days here we come. Plenty of wildlife as well on this walk. Swans, horses a very cute pony and even a monkey ahahah. Glad you finished at a pub. It would be rude not to go in and toast the day lol. Great walk and thanks for taking us along. Happy hiking as always sir. Speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃😊
@BillJohnstonRambler Well if it helps I think the miles you put in you are way fitter then me. You run up those hills lol. Just don't push too hard and don't go running an marathons lol. Keep at it. 👍😃🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
That was a nice chilled wee walk Bill. I've had a busy time with friends from overseas these holidays so I'm sorry I missed this one popping up. Nice and frosty. Thanks Bill and have a great week....Terry
Hi sir How you getting in. Are you still out hitting those walks and hikes. Hope your not taking in any hills un this bad weather. Hope your keeping well. Take care sir 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃
Hi Scott all's well here just got a little health issue at the moment so not been out and about but hope to be out there soon 👍take care and keep those very informative videos coming .
@BillJohnstonRambler Great to hear from you. This time of year there is all sorts of bugs going about. Hooe you get better soon. Those paths need explored soon lol. I think when Spring comes around maybe a plan could be put in place for a collab and there is a pint at the bar with your name on it lol 👍😃🥾🥾🎒⛰️🥃🥃🥃🥃🍻
I was curious about this little town after finding it through genealogy research. I greatly enjoyed your lovely video, and was able to discover so much! Thanks!
Great wee walk to start the year. On a winters day this a good starter for 10 lol. So many good walks in that area although I feel that Aberfoyle doesn't take full advantage. Plenty if bus tours into that car park but the place at tines seems flat. It needs to harness the hiking demographic more. Get people spending money in other shops. Nice hike and a stretch of the legs is always good. Happy hiking sir 👍😀👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Well happy new year and happy first new video and walk of 2024. Nice one to start off with. Aberfoyle is good for a wee saunter lol. I feel though that with plenty of hikes in this area , Aberfoyle doesn't pull in as much business as it should. The bus tours go in and dropped off and the woollen mill for some tartan stuff and the bikers go and get a quick cup of coffee and away the go again. The place needs some impact in the village for as much of the year as possible. Its should be teaming with hikers and outdoors enthusiasts but Callander pulls them in more. Glad you are warming the boots up. 2024 year of adventure as they say woo woo 👍😀👍🥃🥃🥾🥾🎒🏴
Looks like a magic day out in Auld Reekie. I always have a smile when in Edinburgh. Maybe it's because I'm an auld Glasgow lad that this place is always so refreshing to visit lol. Brilliant views..def a birds eye view of the land. I feel that these guys know how to keep their visitors and tourists interested at every step. Interesting walks, history, shops of all types open, a little but of countryside and a far superior Christmas Market. What a day you guys had. Thanks for taking us along as always sir. Stay safe. Speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🏴🎅
Bill that was really a good visit. It is a gem of a wee place. Scott and I did a wee visit during this year as you'll recall. Stockbridge was maybe already on your W of L walk? My sister recommends it so that'll be on our list next year (or this...who knows?). PS Is the Bailie a Wetherspoons and was it any good? 🙂
Was a really enjoyable long day out Lorna and surprisingly we I wasnt all that tired at the end of the walk think the Adrenalin was still flowing But it was very very busy but cheerful everywhere we went Take care 🎅🏔💙
Lovely bit of filming in my favourite city, Bill. Edinburgh can tire me out quite easily -a lot of ups and downs, I bet you all slept on the bus on the way home, lol! Not much snow either but nice views from the top. Tricky up on Arthurs Seat you need to watch don't you? Grass Market area is fab. What a superb full day out you all had. Meadows next time and Dean Village (a must see)?
Sure is tricky at the top of Arthurs seat Terry to many people jostling about, Dean Village is well worth the walk done it about 3 yrs ago and I leith walkway is another good one Terry have attached a link for the short recce I did for group walk to Dean Village ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PziZ2Yqig30.htmlsi=FHIvxColtbg1LZty ps we got the train back Terry bus station was mobbed and it was standing room only on the train felt it was like travelling on the London tube at peak hour Cheers 👍
Not a match for your fantastic scenery in Canada what a beautiful country you live in and Banf National park and the ice fields are amazing, thank you for watching 👍
Nice walk on a damp day. The views were fair open as they say lol. I take it your walks will be a bit shorter or start earlier due to the loss of light. More loal and less travelling time. I like a walk like this where its quite flat and you can get a good gab rather than slogging up munros lol . Hope your well and looking forward to your next stretch of the legs. PS I like the over the shoulder cam ahahahah Speak soon sir 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🏴🥃🥃
Trying to recall if heard your squad on mic before 🤔Bill. Nice that they all enjoy themselves since that’s what it’s all about. Good walk and fairly level by the looks of it. ATB…Terry
The important thing is do as much as you are able to Bill , and you are certainly accumulating the miles on a regular basis. I only lead low level hikes and never go the high ones since my speed tis not good enough. I can mange to recce the high ones at my own speed and usually over two day (a half at a time). I tell any hikers that care to listen that I prefer the low walks because you actually see more and have time to look! Cheers!@@BillJohnstonRambler
Both of you lads put in a huge amount to your hikes. The 2 of you must have walked every inch of Scotland lol. I like. Alow level walk myself but more long distance. I feel I have put in a shift lol. The chat with great company and just absorbing whats around us and appreciating it is what matters. Running up and down Ben Nevis in under the time it takes to make a cup of tea is not my idea of fun but the countryside is there to be enjoyed no matter what you want out of it. 👍😃🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🏴
