Chords are groupings of scale notes. The well known melody of "Do Ray Me Fa So La Te Do" is called the Major Scale. The Do is the Root note (R) which is the note that names the chord. Major chords consists of the Do (Root) the Me (3rd note) and the So (5th note). Minor chords have a flattened 3rd. Most people think chords are just shapes and then assigned letters as names but they're not. I will definitely do a video explaining this concept. The colours are just the primary colours making it easier to see the scale notes positions for each chord.
