Loretta Young was an extremely popular Hollywood film star in 1953. She had begun as a child actress in silent movies, appeared in almost 100 films before she was given the best actress Academy Award for her starring role in The Farmer's Daughter in 1948. But television was taking the nation by storm in the 1950s and the popular Hollywood film actress decided to make a risky career move and explore the exciting new entertainment medium that brought 'the movies' right into American living rooms.
On September 20th, 1953, the beautiful "movie star" entered the nations' living rooms for the very first time. On that Sunday night, on the NBC Television Network, at ten PM Eastern, Loretta Young came through her living room door dressed like the star that she was... and made television history. It didn't take long for Miss Young to became known as the "first lady" of television, earning three Emmys - and numerous other awards - in the eight seasons she reigned as queen of the ratings.
I had seen this Movie a very Very long time ago. It was on Television. Such a Beautiful movie. What a Really Gorgeous woman *Loretta Young* was. Thank you very much for posting this movie. I am 62 years old now n I am reliving my Childhood n Youthful days watching all those Golden Era Movies. They don't make movies like that Anymore.
Can you imagine a tv show of today with a message like this???? I'm grateful that folks can watch these lovely old treasures. God bless us all....and God bless America❣❣❣
I always loved Loretta Young's movies, but until this tv show (I'm watching in 2024) I had not realized the depth and breadth of her creative expression. A truly brilliant actress. She was able to get past her exquisite beauty and submerge herself in these different characters. How wonderful that we get to see these marvelous performances right here on youtube!!
Came across the new Loretta Young show video, I remember watching this show in Australia when I was a teenager in the 1960's, I loved this show and watched it weekly. There were a lot of shows that came out from America that were great for the whole family to watch. Ah the good old days.
Please keep this episode on RU-vid because I included it in my book with its link. I’ll let you know once my book is done. There are other episodes that I also love but I cannot share them all in my book. More power to your channel.
I've always loved Tommy Kirk. Ever since "The Hardy Boys" on "The Mickey Mouse Club" back in the 50's. Had a bit of a crush on him. I'm 82 now and still think he's darling.
Great example of what's important to men & women & them NOT trying to trample into each other's territories & destroy that balance but what it takes to work it out...hard work & maturity.
Holy Toledo- that gown Loretta wore in the intro was just silly! They're usually gorgeous. In fact Loretta wore the gown the other guest actress was wearing in this episode in her entrance. I remember the sequin flowered top. It's very pretty.
What a bonehead move, using a fake name like that. Live & learn I guess. Apparently the kids never heard the horrors of juvvie before. Not..pot is not the gateway. Crappy environments & the need to escape are though.
This is a perfect example of how the system is certainly rigged to keep kids IN the system. The bigger the government system the worse the accountability & quality of services delivered in it as well, and the more corruption in it. And it's true at 18 they literally dump kids into the streets to fend for themselves. And far too often while IN the system abused/neglected children are returned to the very ones who hurt them ending in their deaths far too often. Add to THAT open borders ADDS to the burden so we cant even attempt to take care of our own. IT'S all designed to fail when big government is involved & there's no accountability & far too many compartmentalized agencies don't know what others are doing.
