Great garage engineering video. I bought a diode package from some outfit in one of the northern states a few years back that did this upgrade on my '06 500 Polaris. Can't find them any more online for a buddy.
That startup was crazy I had no idea the Roush exhaust was that loud. I currently have a Flowmaster super 40 muffler. It's been only 3 weeks and I'm already tired of the low RPM drone. It doesn't drone at all on the highway though. So now I have an unboxed AWE cat back in my living room
I always think it is tough to judge exhausts sound by internet video. And then we are expected to make a big $ purchase that will impact our daily drive with such little information. Only thing to do is jump in the deep end and find out I guess. I liked the sound and look of the MBRP. It didn’t last long and the drone was mildly annoying. The Roush had an awesome cold start and I was pleasantly surprised its reasonably quiet on the highway. I have yet to tow with it and time will tell on the quality. So many more options to try, thank you for sharing your experience too.
That’s the issue with these trucks. The mechanicals are good but the body gives out. New truck payments are not appealing. Plus it’s fun to try and learn a skill to keep the vehicles on the road longer. I agree do what you can you help the body and avoid vehicle payments as long as possible.
any rust left in not chemically treated (not just spray painted) will restart the process! there is a good follow question, how long? EDIT: i'm experimenting on a buick i used krud kutterrust converter THAN por15, the down side was lack of time and not cleaning the residual krud kutter off first. though the por15 took two to three weeks to get off my hands so it may stick.
Not shown in the video but we did prep all surfaces with rust by removing what we could then treating it with aspho acid surface prep. Time will tell how long it lasts.
Very informative and well explained series that's straight to the point no bs, man I appreciate you for taking the time to make this series as this is very rare content nowadays sadly..
Thank you for the kind words. I agree there too much sensation and not enough education in things people share. Glad you like it and found something useful. Stay tuned much more to come.
My pleasure. The more knowledge that is made publicly available the safer we can all be. I also plan to add to this series a few more items. Then make some maintenance videos. And just this morning, talking with another instructor, perhaps a variety of bucking techniques for different compression situations. Stay tuned.
Thank you for your kind words. My hope is to provide the education that I wish would have had when I first started. Knowing the proper way to fell trees will make using a chain saw less hazardous. I plan to release a chainsaw maintainance series later this summer as well. Stay tuned.
Great suggestion. I’ve tried yellow in the past (they seem especially popular in shooting spots) but I just couldn’t get used to how they change the color of everything. Many people enjoy them though.
I will be uploading videos next week on the felling plan where you will see how these concepts play out. I started cutting trees very young and was not properly educated at that time. Knowing what I know now and through my experience I know I am lucky to be alive. Any time you can decrease risk through knowledge and skill we win. I have made these videos so we can all learn and grow in our abilities, spread the word. Thanks for your support.
I wish this training was available when I was a kid. Now that it is I suggest every saw user to take a in person training class and if you can’t or need a refresher at least these videos are available. Look to next week when I upload the felling plan.
