Currently going through a starvation diet for health reasons, monitored by a doctor thankfully. But these scenes in the anime did prepare me for what I was in for. Thankfully for me I'm not doing it to get to a weigh in, but to get down to a healthy weight.
Hajime no ippo deserves main stream recognition. Definitely top 5 anime's of all time. Very relatable, in terms of wanting to become a Great Fighter. 💯👍🏽

1 punch bro starting gasping even after 10 or more punches thrown at ippo. But tbh if this was a actual hard spar then im sure ippo might lose since this dude endurace is crazy. Especially when ippo was at the peak of fatigue right at this moment of psar 😢😢 Fun fact: in the manga, this dude withstood a punch by a boxer who was a student of sendo. that punch he withstood is similar to the smash except slightly faster and 1 shots any body who aint sendo or ippo. it so strong that 1 shot made his whole face bleed like crazy.
Ippo will return I read manga ,and now after retire he is more better, now he can use Southpaw style,his Dempsey roll is still better, and he is not punch drunk ,the problem was that he accumulated to much damage thats all . But I know when Sendo will lose to the wold champion we will see the return of Ippo so wait
The implications of such drastic weightloss on personality and mind overall is way more than it appears on the body.. Very few who themselves have experienced how it feels when you workout empty stomach at dangerously low energy levels and overall weight.. You're actually dying and you feel that as everything you've known around you becomes estranged slowly including yourself You become a stranger to yourself even though everything is the same Still you can't let go of your motive if you do there's nothing to live for Then you slowly build yourself back up in that very state.. You effectively learn to live and breathe through death.. You end up finding yourself And trust me you're an absolute champion of life after that Big body small body no body you're the winner!
I love how they didn’t give Ricardo any flashy over the top over powered abilities/ punches (at least not yet). It really makes him stand out more as a dominant fighter because he uses basic fundamentals that are so effective because he perfected them. Like the old man said in this sparring “it isn’t any trick, he’s just perfected the most basic left” “he must’ve spent countless hours in front of the mirror practicing”
as mentioned in the manga by mashiba, during spars ippo is not the same as he is during a fight in the ring, he doesnt fight with the same intention and he pulls back some of his punches
