Welcome to Surf Fishing In So Cal. My name is Nick Heid and I began surf fishing in 2014. Ever since my first session, I've been hooked. I started an information-based website and blog back in 2019 and it's turned into a full-blown guiding business and community for surf fishermen across Southern California. And, of course, this RU-vid channel was then born. Stay tuned for more of my surf fishing adventures and if you haven't started surf fishing just yet, get ready to leave the lakes behind and as I change your perspective of San Diego fishing..
You did a great job explaining. Finally found a video that doesn't include all that wannabe TV show B.S. that you get from RU-vid makers these days. Thank you.
@@AU.PG08 very much depends on time of year but it varies a lot. From April - June this year, it was automatic. Never missed in a 4 hour session. From July - now, it’s been about 50%. Sometimes right away, sometimes a full 3-4 hours before getting hit. If you can get a solid 15-30 minute soak you’re looking good
As the water goes out look for the water to make v shapes. That's where you will find them. I remember as a kid in California I filled a 5 gallon bucket overflowing in less than 5 minutes. I released them afterwords but I was curious about them.
@@harrisonmauch1909 I sure do. Here’s the link. Shipping is likely the easiest bet especially this time of year for me. surffishingsocalsd.com/product/pre-made-shark-rigs/
@@oceanswimming590 haha dude I know. I need to get a new GoPro. My batteries are all bad and my GoPro battery seal is all grimy. I will I promise😂 just don’t know when
I should have watched this before I attempted to skin a shovelnose for the first time. I was ripping the skin off with all my strength like a caveman and mangled it a bit. Thank you for the video, this will be very helpful next time! Any videos of cooking it? I threw my meat chunks in the freezer for now.
Casting distance is relative to where you are in the surf. If you've waded out to your thighs; it's a short cast. If your in knee highs barely in a roll up wave ; it's along cast. If one is in water thigh deep surf perch may be swimming around you.
@@SDPBALLCOACH if you watch the vid you’ll see I say don’t use anything 1.5x the size of the biggest one I had. I use all the crabs I keep or release them at the end of the day. This was in so cal.
@@surffishinginsocal Right.... I was just thinking you MIGHT just narrow it down to 1 Mile of the 300 miles of So. Cal. coastline...??? Just Sayin.....
All the info is in the description. As for location I don’t reveal exact locations other than what’s in the title, description and video. Hope this helps!
Hey Nick, my name is Roger. I've never surfed fishing before I would like to learn. Is there any way I can get in touch with you and maybe go fishing 🎣 one of these days I'm in Temecula thanks!!!
@@timm7267 just not really needed for this type of surf fishing. Cheaper and as long as you’re good enough to keep tension mono works fine. I use braid for lures.
@@ronpassmore7053 as long as it’s not too hot, all day. I like to run some water through them every hour or so to give them a cool down and some added oxygen
Nice job! We catch a lot of these guys at Crystal Cove State Park, Newport Beach - good times! Also fun to swim with in San Diego. Leopard sharks are rad. Keep up the great videos.
