I started my journey in April 2021. Since then I have been documenting my journey and sharing my experiences (i.e failures, success, etc.) I am currently looking for products that are specifically for my hair type. In addition, I also do product reviews.
You, “ According to them “🥰, Thank you for being honest. I was always reluctant because of the long in between washing, no conditioning and wondering if my scalp would itch
See the link for more information. However, it appears that it will be bigger than the actual sisterlocks but still smaller than microlocs. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
LOL! Melissa Blake has what’s called Knotted locs where in lieu of getting reties they put knots in the roots etc as their form of maintenance. It’s a DYI.
Just wait. There will be lots of people with knotted locs in a few years time because of the DIY aspect and the ease of maintenance. Loctitians will stay hating knotted locs and saying its bad for the hair because knotted locs affects their bottom line which is their wallets. For me the verdict is still out on knotted locs. I wish I could see the hair up close of the knotted locs clients that have had knotted locs for 4-5 years. Melissa interviewed two women on her channel recently who have had knotted locs for 4+ years.
@@anastasiarenaud2568 unfortunately there are a few people that are saying they are loosing locs. We will definitely see. As always thanks for watching and commenting. Peace
Cant wait to see it. I ve been investigating sister and micro for the past year. I have fine strands, medium density. Don't want over 400 locs anyway. Just watched video of someone with 250 locks and was beautiful although i think she had thick hair. That number is small enough for me to do myself, plus longer between reties. Scalp health and hair integrity is most important. Im 62. So once done, not combing out. Taking to my grave 😂
LOL! That’s where mine are going….to the grave. I’ll be stepping into 63 this year so no way am I taking these out. LOL! Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
I can't imagine getting teeny tiny locs! At that point you might as well just be a straight natural. Plus, like you mentioned a couple strands of hair would struggle to support the length of the locs 🤔 Very interesting info!
im interested in the xl for my second set. I was thinking of reattaching my 1st set and having microlocks because SL doesnt do reattaching or extensions. but I wish they would have shown the sizing differences. like on some kinky curly clips -in as an example. or since they have been in the works on this since 2015 allegedly I think they should have had models who have that size to show the difference.
for reference my first set I had about 550-565 sisterlocks and they were very full and dense buns would give me headaches. so maybe smaller is better for me. but when they were short and light i had no issues with the fullness or amount.
Hunty I cant wait until til the XL launch in Jan 2025. Im wondering is this will be a separate training or if it will be included with their standard training. Either way, I’m anxious to know considering my interest in taking the training next year. You are on point that the reasons for lock breakage could be due to any number of things. It certainly should not be due to sprinkles if the hair sprinkles artist is certified. We, meaning I am certified, are taught non-damaging ways to install sprinkles on sisterlocks.
@@Debjene Awesome, my loctician is certified in the sprinkles as well. I can’t wait to get them. Next year for sure I will be sporting those babies. LOL! Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
New subbie. Your sisterlocks are gorgeous. The color is nice too. Following to hopefully get updates on your SL training. I have locs, not SLs though, and Im seriously thinking of taking the class next year.
@@Debjene Welcome to the family. All locs are beautiful. Do you have traditional locs. I started the class on Monday. So far going well. You just can’t get behind like I did. I had to play catch up today and it was literally a 9-5. 😅LOL! I will be giving an update more than likely tomorrow on how the class is going and some tips that I have learned in the first week. Thanks for subscribing, watching and commenting. Peace!
@@hiddencurlsI have interlocked microlocs…..300 of them! They were installed 7 years ago. I look forward to hearing about your training experience. Stay on track so you won’t have to play catch up again lol
Your hair is growing, beautiful and the hair color go with your complexion. I have used flexirods on my sisterlocks but it thinned out my hair. Now I only use pipe cleaners if I want curls.
@@lashun1053 Thank you! Really…… Someone just told me that pipe cleaners causes breakage/thinning. This is interesting. Now I’m afraid to do it. Wow.😮 thanks for watching and commenting. Peace
@@rosieamelia5955 Thanks Rosie. Yes, I guess I will finally start retaining my length. Your hair is growing back fast as well. Thanks for commenting and watching. Peace!
Looking good! I wonder if you couldn't detach the holders and put smaller ones onto the jewellery? 🤔 Also, I was watching some Yannie the other day, and she was saying that pipe cleaners can actually be bad for locs, and to use the flexis or other soft types of rollers instead.
@@esthertjones Hmm, I’ll have to check. Thanks for that tip. I’m so glad you said that. I saw that also. I love Yannie. I’ll have to correct that on my channel. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
No conditioner because I’m not loc’d yet so you are not suppose to put anything on the hair. If I get an itchy scalp during the week I have a continuous mist spray bottle and I just spray a little very little on the scalp only. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
Best decision ever. I am loving it! Go for it! You will not regret it. Just make sure you VET THE LOCTICIAN. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
I completely agree with you!!! I dont care for the way knotted locks look. I know many people who have healthy sisterlocks 10 to 20 years old. You have to care for your hair no matter what type of locks one has. One look at Dr. Cornwells hair debunks Melissa's theory. Her hair is still healthy. Not knocking Melissa but her locks dont appeal to me at all. But to each its own. There should not be a fight over locks. Silly! Just get what you want, its okay. It seems like there is some bitterness towards sisterlocks for some reason.
Kobe locs talks about knotted locs on her channel. Blacks in the Caribbean have been healthily knitting logs for decades to strengthen and repair damaged locs. This is not knew. Melissa Blake just made it user friendly for us to retie our own hair without the expense and frequency of other methods. I don't like the flat scalpy look, but many do.
@@tracistaples2004 The tool? That’s interesting because Melissa is still doing interlocking in addition to the knotting. I will definitely find out because I will be taking the Sisterlocks training course starting Monday. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
Well one thing for sure. I will NOT be jumping on this bandwagon. Been there done that and had hair issues. I start my class on Monday to become a certified Sisterlocks consultant. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
The opposite is true. Sisterlocs and locticians just want to keep the monopoly the have on our money. People have been using knots for years to repair locs. If you like flatness and the scalpy grid look, knotted locs is not for you.
Ok so I have micro locs. I started off interlocking my hair but soon realized that it wasn't the way that I wanted to go with my locs because they were being compromised. I started looking off unto other options and was intrigued by the whole knotted locs thing. I did research and came to the conclusion that it wouldnt be for me. My main concern was how they would look later on down the line. After seeing Melissa's locs it was a huge no for me. Personally, I didn't like the fact that you could see the knots down the shaft of her locs. It just didn't look appealing. Maybe if the hair was darker, you wouldn't be able to see the knots? I don't know but I decided to transition to retwisting my micro locs and I'm so glad I did. I don't have the smallest size of micro locs so it worked out great for me
Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, Melissa’s locs are very uneven which appears to me that they may have broken off in some places because of the knots. That does not have to be the case but that’s what it looks like to me. I’m glad that you found a better way to maintain your locs. I’m still a new to this, so I will see how it goes. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
I have never heard of it. There is always someone trying to make a buck , I am like you, I am like you, I am only doing things where years of research shows it works. I have learned my lesson
HI, if you want you can keep your mousses. I use mousse on my Sisterlocks for twist outs , braid outs and roller sets. I have wrap a loc tools and lock loops curlers also flexi-rods and perm rods and even curl formers. A little mousse holds and sets the styles very nicely. I sit under a dryer to dry my locks never air dried them.
I hope to get sisterlocs next year. I have products galore to get thru til then. I'm on a strict no buy rule. But probably still end up gifting products.
@@reggierisk this was my 3rd time in 3 years giving away boxes of products. SMH. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please let me know how your SL journey goes. Make sure you go to the SL website and get a certified loctician or trainee. Peace!
You are free 🎉! Interesting enough I only had a few products until I started doing wash and go. Prior to that I only had a leave in , foam, shampoo and deep conditioner. I didn’t have gels at all.
I had my first retie almost two weeks ago. It was a little painful and I’m not tender headed. I thought she was going to spray water on it, nope. I couldn’t wait until it was over!
I am enjoying your journey. I love the simplicity of locs. I think having to depend on someone for reties is a draw back for me personally. My stylist currently have micro locs which would be my preference , but I am waiting to see if she still continues to enjoy them. She has had them for a year. They look beautiful
@@rosieamelia5955 I agree about the reties. Microlocs are beautiful as well. Plus there is a variety of ways you can install them (two strand twist, interlocking, etc. ) I am taking the class to learn how to install locs, and do my own reties, etc. and just being knowledgeable about the locs period is a plus. I need to know, because I don’t want to depend on anyone when it comes to my hair. Been there done that! Lol. 😂 Thanks for your support. Thanks for watching and commenting, Peace!
@@benewiafe9861 No, you can’t condition the hair. That will cause your locks to slip. I spray water with the continuous mist bottle on my scalp only, and drink plenty of water and my hair does not get dry. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
Absolutely! I don’t know why they think they know better when we are with our hair every second of the day. 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
