To me these sort of paintings bring back memories of certain places and with the memory of a place feelings i felt back then, or people that i met. Indeed art doesnt have to be obly realism to make you feel something.
I find this cerebral gymnastics about the creation of art, or her so called art redundant. It would be interesting if the art was actually creative on some level… I do enjoy abstract art, and own many pieces. But to be honest some of this stuff being produced is not up to a truly artistic standard that was set buy the artist who created the movement!!!
I am sorry to say that your work doesn't touch me in any sense. I like to see history, faces of real human beings at certain point in their lives which will never repeat in their lives or the person looking for meaning.
Zoe Grey grew up in Marrawah, a remote coastal town on the northwest tip of Tasmania. Her practice speaks to this place through paintings that act a process of recall.
Honest real and raw is what she is after. If emotionless is what she feels about the place, that's the honesty she is after. Most artists answers in conversations are made up off the top of their heads. Paintings are personal events. You cannot truly remember nor communicate what happened during that particular event. It's not a thinking process. It is allowing space and time happen to self. No explanation would be true to what happened.
