The Social Network was always one of my favourite DVD's. I like sets like that and David Fincher films always had the best supplements back in the day! How did you like Platoon? I always flip between Platoon and Full Metal Jacket as my favourite Vietnam movie. At the moment it's Full Metal Jacket 😎 Oh I love Gone Girl! It's quite high up on my list but I do have an obsession with David Fincher so...... 🤣 Cat cameo at 8:15 made my day! 😸😸😸 Have you seen Haunted Honeymoon with Gene Wilder? I watched that film about 50 times on VHS when I was a kid! Still get a kick out of it now! I agree with you about the campiness of horror! Think that's why it's my favourite genre!

Spot on rant! I totally agree. Modern horror films lack a soul, no pun intended. They think they have to follow the new nihilistic style of horror with no humour or nods to the audience. When Scream came out in 1996 and revitalized the genre, it brought that knowing wink that is something that was needed but these days it's been lost again in favour of bleak depression. Blood and gore in spades does not make a horror film! I think Evil Dead Rise tried to start to make things right but decided to go even further into the darkness. By the way, thanks for making up your bed for this video, it seems your cat appreciated it as well! 😸

@@BluRayDisplay Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I did actually like Evil Dead Rise, though. It was refreshing to see the same concepts finally leave that cabin, and with interesting characters. Yes, I liked the gore, but there was more to the film that’s enjoyable. Unlike Evil Dead.

@@toomuchellison No worries! I'm working my way through your collection videos now! Oh cool! Yes, that was quite refreshing and I enjoyed the family angle they were going for. I also liked the fact that they just killed nearly all of them and that did add to to tension because even the youngest sister could have died! When I said it goes further into the darkness I meant I just couldn't see what was going on! 🤣 Have a great day! 😎

The gentleman sings very soft and soulful like a jazz singer. But this is not opera.

Impossible de résister, n'est-ce pas ? Don Giovanni dans un exercice qu'il maîtrise à la perfection : la séduction manipulatrice. Quant à Peter Mattei, il est au-delà du talent imaginable !

18k views and only 391 "likes?" Probably all mesmerised by the sheer beauty of his baritone voice and his personification of once of the more challenging characters in opera.

Fire the stoopid director! If THAT VOICE was singing on an Italian street every single window would be opened and filled with the faces of besotted women and envious but respectful men... Quale voce! As if only one young lady would bother listening! Opera directors have become SO AWFUL, in the Met and in the Paris Opera, that it is more rewarding and delightful to just listen to Peter and an accompanist. And don't get me started on the misogynist who directed the Met's "Barbiere..." with female extras dragging a heavy cart across the stage, and the other one who has the singers eating chicken on stage and crisps. NO RESPECT FOR THE VOICE.

The film is supposed to be quite lighthearted but in this scene Gene Wilder succeeds in adding just a little genuinely convincing period creepiness to appeal to a wider audience. I would love to see the full film of The Scarecrow (1972) if anybody has a link (not currently on BroadwayHD).
