Still working my way through your past vlogs. Being Scottish, It's going to be interesting to see and hear your thoughts on the UK for vanlifers. I know parking will be a problem. The UK is so far behind the rest of mainland Europe regarding facilites and free park ups. Also, traffic congestion is a big problem too. On the positive side, you will experience some of the most amazing places in Europe, if not the world. I'm certainly looking forward to this series. Chris, I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you originally a London boy?
Amazing Andy sure you will love it, think we have about 20 videos so gonna be a great ride. I was born in Grays but my parents both used to live in London yeah !
Unfortunately the Isle of Skye is destroying itself with its popularity. I normally go there in November to do landscape photography. In November it is very quiet with snow capped mountains, raging rivers and fantastic light for photography. Many years ago parking was free, now you have to take out a second mortgage to park anywhere. My advice would be to give the island a miss in the summer months or you will only be disappointed. Things that can go wrong will, wasn't that an Irish person who came up with this piec3 of ironic wosdom? I am quite happy though that it is only a hard drive. I thought something with Holly, your families or even yourselves had dramatically gone wrong. Of course we would have loved to have seen your material of Norway, but I am sure you will make other videos that are great and will act as a compensation. Your personal hard drives, ie your memories of the place are not lost and if the places were that good I am sure you will find the time some day to go back and make a video of them for us again.
Hey Volker definitely it's a different feeling and you're 100% right it's nothing in the grand scheme of things but at the moment it feels that we have lost everything 😑 So let's see if they manage to get it back for us 🤞 i guess we should know in the next 1-2 weeks
Hey George thank you for your kind words and sorry to hear about what happened 😔 If you've still got it, maybe worth considering a data recovery lab, I read that they manage to retrieve the data around 70% of the time. Our issue is that we have been left in the dark for almost a month now so we have no idea what's going on. Hopefully we will be back in the next week or two with some positive news 🙏
Maybe it a meaning about this happening. Now you must come back to Norway and make a new series. Thank you all three for a wonderful trip in my homeland. We forgot how beautiful it are because we see it every day . Tips go north. And not only in the summer, it’s beautiful in the springtime too. Welcome back and have a safe and wonderful trip.
sorry to hear about this, have had the same issues with the same brand which wiped drives after one day saying drive is unformatted (happened twice...so learnt my lesson) ...and went back using WD ..totally reliable (cross fingers hope not jinxing) 😎 Drive safely !
Can't believe it really, and to make it worse now we been waiting for nearly a month. Never any issues with WD, even had a five year old HDD failing recently with bad sectors, it's still accessible and hasn't fully failed yet. But really hope they come through in the next week or two with our footage... Let's see what happens 🤞

wow! You are doing a really good job filming and bringing the content for the viewer. But if the dronevideoes of Oslo is yours, you were lucky not to get arrested. Oslo city center is a "No fly zone" and you can get arrested for it. Just saying. Hope your hard drive will be fixed. Much love from Oslo.

I hope Seagate manage to recovery the files for you. Not for the RU-vid videos, but for your own personal memories. Your RU-vid family will always be here, so don't worry. We appreciate you sharing with us the bad times too. Keep positive and keep recording memories...... Safe travels.
Gut wrenching losing all that footage and visual memories. I understand how gutted you two must be. I hope you’ll be able to recover the data. Sad, but it’s not the end of the world.
I know the feeling. It's not so easy to back up your stuff when you're traveling either. I took a lot of video when I was on holiday with my son. When I came home, I got an update notification on my iPhone. Never had issues updating, but of course that particular time it bricked my phone. Now I try to follow the 3-2-1 of backups. At least 3 copies, 2 different mediums and one of them off site/online. If you make a living with your data, that's what I recommend.
Thank you, really sucks let's hope we get it back. Really strange for sudden failure on a new drive. Only do multiple back ups for client work with the RU-vid vids as you say it's a bit difficult being on the move
@@TravelTalesVlogs I work in IT, and actually wrote some code for a leading data recovery company when I did my bachelor's degree. I think it was a higher chance to recover data from old magnetic hard disk drives than modern solid state. Not because they were more stable, but because it was usually a mechanical issue. Even when it was not, you could usually recover something. That said, if the SSD was completely dead, I think it's a good chance they can recover the data. It could be some components not related to the memory storage chips themselves. Hope you figure it out 🙏
You have to expect this if just parking up at the side of the road or car parks , it’s a sad part of life these days , I’m always surprised that people who park up like this are always shocked , book a site if you’re concerned

I can't imagine how it must feel for you because I can imagine the hard work and effort you put into your videos and how important it must be to continue documenting your life and experiences, let alone this happening on your best route ever. Sometimes one says "the wonder of technic" but you just showd us the downside of technic. Only a magican can save thing with a finger snap. I´m awfully sorry for you, missing memories is nothing to wish anyone!
I didn't want to say this, but you two are the biggest drama queens I've ever seen. I noticed it already when there was a burned out caravan/motorhome in Sweden and you had the world's biggest monologue about "we don't know if we dare to sleep here" until this pointless video. You paint it like it's the catastrophe of the world when this kind of thing happens to all people who vlog or use camera equipment. Also, a hard drive just doesn't break if it's new, if it's an SSD they last extremely long, so it doesn't feel believable that it just stopped working. If it doesn't work out, it sucks but move on, stop creating drama from things that happen every now and then.
Blimey! We are all entitled to our opinion, but this is VERY negative and not at all necessary in my opinion. If you thought what you thought ref Sweden, then just 'Unsubscribe' or don't follow them at all. All they are doing is updating 'regulars' on why there hasn't been a weekly VLOG recently!
Whoever is not finding these vlogs interesting can just 'unsubscibe'. Some of us look forward to these vlogs and are concerned when they are not posted. I for one appreciate being updated on all expects of their journey and not just on the bright side of things.

I guess it is kind of cheap living in a van here i Norway when you’re not hooked up to the power grid these days LOL! I love camping and living simple, but it is so freakin’ good to come back home to a nice shower and my own bed again.
Yeah we love it in Norway ❤️ and also have our own shower and bed in the van 🙂 it just sucks when there's nowhere to fill up your water 😃 although Norway has been great for that !
