Glad I found this I just bought a 21 elevation and it was noisy like a loud diesel. Got worried I was low on oil because no codes were thrown but i got a little worried but I figure it’s just trying to regen
My dads boss has a 42 tournament fisherman. His boss knew a lot of high ups in the auto industry. Somehow that boat ended up with 2 ford 427 side oilers. From what I’ve been told both were meant for nascar but they had “catastrophic failure” and were disposed of in his boat.
I have a 2024 ,bought it new , I’m getting 34 to agal on hwy , it’s all stock , I was getting less mileage until I put the Lima cover on the bed , , I have 1500 miles , no def or oil , all good , I don’t abuse my equipment so doing what he did. Not in my truck , but I’m very satisfied with mine , I don’t want to buy another , but I would , very satisfied buyer . Oh my truck pulls a 21 foot Icon boat and it does it nicely ..
My Dad owned a 35 Chris Craft sports fisherman in the early 1960s with big Mopar v8s and as a toddler my fondest memories early in the season in NJ when it was still chilly was Dad spraying cans of starter fluid in those carbs to get it running. How Dad didnt blow up is beyond me.
The LM2 oil consumption is due to a defective weld inside the valve cover. There's a TSB and redesigned valve cover that addresses the oil consumption issue. Reports of oil consumption with the redesigned LZ0 3.0 Duramax have been extremely rare and nothing close to 1 quart/500 miles. That's Ford GT350/Toyota territory.
I just bought one. 700 miles in and the oil level hasn't changed. I was told it will use some during break-in but go away. So far so good. 99% of the oil consumption issues with the 3.0 Dmax were from the LM2 version, not the 2023+ LZ0 version. The LM2 used oil due to a defect in the valve cover. There's a TSB and redesigned valve cover that fixes that issue.
