Andy Perrin, Self Employed, Independent Domestic Mobile Locksmith & Locksmith Tutor at Brighton & Hove Locksmiths, UK
When I am not in the training room helping students to become locksmiths I will be out on the road helping customers with their lock related issues. This can include anything from Lock-outs, Lock-ins, upgraded locks, new fresh fit locks to wooden and uPVC doors.
I also run a range of locksmith courses including 1, 2, 3 & 5 day training courses for new trading locksmiths that would like to learn about night latch fitting and mortice lock fitting, or maybe learn some basic carpentry skills to enable you to make good doors and frames.
You can also choose either a 3 or 5 day shadowing course. This is again designed for New Locksmiths that would like to learn a bit more about working out in the field and in the training room. Contact me for further details and pricing.
hi do you use a specific camera for your letterbox tool ? i do remember you mentioned in another video but theres no chance of me finding that again xd
A little tip with the Ingersoll sc71....put a tiny bit of grease on the angled part of the keep and the lock will close as smooth as anything! SAME WITH THE AUXILLARY BOLT ON THE 193, 1930 Eras! it really does make all the difference!
Absolutely. This one was also not in line, and the door was rubbing so a bit more invoked but I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been to many jobs that I’ve used the smallest amount of GT85 on the lock and keep and it’s worked perfectly 👌🏼 Thanks for watching as always 😊🙏🏼
@@NE-locksmith hi mate. There isn’t a brand on them I’m afraid. I got them from eBay years ago so don’t even know if they are still being made!! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
@@brighton_locksmith look forward to that announcement. And thank you for your content.. absolutely one of the most valuable sources of information and ideas for anyone in the trade.
I didn’t have any unfortunately! I also wasn’t sure that the crunching it was doing was to do with that so we decided to just swap it out 👍🏼 Thanks for watching
@@brighton_locksmith Not totally sure but I think the steel ball acts as a spring loaded detent on the mechanism. After pressing the handle down and all the locking points retract, they can sometimes move back outwards under gravity, the detent holds them in place. You can open the door and while open the hooks etc fall out again so when you go to shut the door they hit the frame instead. Fuhr used to always install them in the factory but now the gearboxes come without them installed and you have to buy the steel ball, spring and grub screw separately.
Souber Tools multipoint gearbox holders, you can get a single or double version (the one he has), I have them both, work really well. Small magnet on side to hold your screws.
Hey Paul. It makes life much easier using the gearbox holder 👍🏼 The magnet for the screws is such a simple but great idea to save losing them. Plus you can keep them in order 👌🏼 Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
Thanks for the tag along, really enjoyed the video. I also enjoyed looking at the exploded views of your sponsors cylinders. Mate they are a well designed lock. The spools are awesome and the amount of drill protection is more than I have seen inside other locks. Would like to see one of those come across my lock lab in the future when they become more commonly used. Wonder if they have a distributor here in Australia? Thanks for this video and I see you have cracked well past the 3000 sub mark. A big congratulations mate on the success of your channel, you have put a lot into this. Hope your move goes smoothly, all the best to you and yours, cheers
Hey Roy. Yes they are very very nice cylinders. I have tried picking them and yes I have been successful with flag picks 😊 However, Seth of Fortress Locksmiths has just developed a bump key for these which would be even more beneficial for a trading locksmith 😊🙏🏼😊🙏🏼 Thank you as always for watching buddy 🙏🏼
Good to see a video again andy, I absolutely love just watching random jobs that you do around brighton and hove - I have watched your videos about 10 times over - every one Thanks so much for teaching me so much and i have managed to fix my patio doors, The uvpc windows and shown me how to change the euro cylinder on my lock. All i need now it’s to is replace the mechanism. Please don’t stop making videos just showing your day to day life - That’s what we all love 😅
@@brighton_locksmith No problem Andy - The best locksmithing channel on Ebay without doubt - love your tip on clamping the digital lock as its one of those jobs you need three hands for- Im definately pinching that idea - Hope your locksmithing courses go well
Unfortunately it’s on hold for now!! I have to move soon so will lose my training room which I use when doing shadowing courses!! I will see what happens after the move and see if I can set up a training room elsewhere! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@brighton_locksmith thanks for making content worth watching. I know it takes time to make even the shortest of videos so appreciate the quality and time you put into your content.
Been following you for some time now Andy, very informative and very interesting videos mate keep them coming. Just purchased the 2 courses, looking forward to learning more, cheers Andy.
We love your your waffle Andy so don't worry about it and get yourselves to Manchester it will be great and it won't be too long before we see you with a gold play button.
Great jobs Andy. On the failed nightlatch due to the defective spring in the body, what type of spring is the proper replacement for them? I've nabbed the courses too 😉
Hey Gareth. I have a pack of spare springs that you can buy. I also remove the springs from any old nightlatches and keep them as spares as it’s quite a common fault 😊 Thank you very much for purchasing the courses 🙏🏼 Thanks for watching buddy. 😊🙏🏼
Nice work with that code lock strike! 👍 The first door is fitted with a door-Dictator (the thing mounted next to the door closer). They are ment to shut and latch the door silently. Normally I would use the latch function of the closer to do this, but with windy conditions a door closer is sometimes not strong enough. Maybe a tip for next time, set the closing speed of the door closer slower. With this fast speed the dictator gets a slam every time the door closes, and it will break more easy. A high closing speed is not necessary because of the Dictator. In general, someone once told me to use this rule to set the closing speed: the door must close from 90 degree in approximately six seconds. It's a simple rule, but in most situations it works. 🙂
