We noticed that too and for a moment thought that we misunderstood. I'm not a fan of the man but a few things can explain why he wanted his shoes in that precise moment: 1) it's not uncommon for a person standing behind a podium for an extended period of time to take their shoes off. I've seen the same thing on film sets, when actors know that the camera is not filming head-to-toe, they sometimes wear only socks or even slippers. 2) I know from personal experience that, when in shock, people do and/or say the strangest things. 3) I believe that Trump is a very self-conscious person , who would be embarrassed to be seen walking barefoot, or on socks.

Hi, thanks for your comment. As for now, Your comment and my responding, are not public. Wish You, I'll try how to change the RU-vid settings, to publish our commenting. As I have gathered, the explanation was Trump got his shoes knocked off when Secret service tackled him down. From my personal experience in my sixties and as a retired news journalist, I agree with Your points 1 and 2. As to Your point 3, I'd rather not comment, other than he's a showman always having known how to take his audience. Also, I suppose nobody could have noticed got got escorted to the van, without his shoes on. I noticed Donald Trump already in the '70s when I regularly read magazines Newsweek and Time, also subscribing to home. To me, Donald Trump in late '70s appeared some cool guy, yet in the '80s and '90s my rating dropped. Just like, in the '90s I highly valued Rudy Giuliani for his cleaning New York, but in last few years, along with some Trump mishaps, I figured Giuliani gone... Mislead? My apologies, now I have slipped into some kitchen politics. I only hope, the U.S. get a good president, and the nation got more united, as the times are the way they are. You in the U.S, besides inflation and employment rate and so on, have got these issues with China [//Taiwan], medical care, abortion rights, Mexican border etc. I myself live just a few miles from the Russian border, and some 130 miles from St. Petersburg [RUS]. I need to consider the U.S. v Europe relationship from our point of view, especially now that there is the war in Ukraine, and Finland as a very new NATO member holds the longest borderline [some 800 miles] with Russia, in all Europe. What I am sure of is, our recently elected president Alexander Stubb gets along just swell, be him Biden or Trump - as got our former 12-year president Sauli Niinisto, him a conservative, too. Too bad, as huge a career as Joe Biden has, I am not sure he's able to handle the next 4 years, as there are significant signs of aging. And, democrats, possibly have run out of time, to present another potential candidate. Somebody find a way to bring back Bill Clinton, or Ronald Reagan...? Or even JFK.
