Starting a PHILIPS RECORD PLAYER, of late '50s

This is how I used to start our record player, when I first started messing with records, in early '60s. By yanking the tonearm. The clip is from a Finnish movie from 1961, and the player is quite similar a Philips model, we had at home.
To start the player, one had to yank the arm sideways and outwards. To stop the player, one had to lift the arm towards the player hub. The actor in the film, yanks the tonearm twice... Maybe he just didn't enough, for the first effort. I vaguely recall having done the same, quite a few times.
Our player, though, was integrated in the drawer of this table stand, especially designed for the glorious valve radio Salora Metropol 58. The Salora Metropol '58 was with 10-watt push-pull amplifier, 4 loudspeakers, separate tone controls and even with 5 push-button tone settings preset, such as bass, jazz, orchestra, solo, speech. What a fantastic radio she was, with hifi sound.
I stiill today own the Salora radio, fully functioning. The radio stand, too. But not the Philips record player, too bad.
