no, mainly playing the older stuff on CRT's so didn't want to invest in that pricy scaler... plus also have all the Analogue consoles for my 4K TV so covered there when I actually play on the big flatscreen.

I love how those CRT with those gorgeous colors, no lag and no motion blur look, but may I ask, why so many CRTs instead of one, the best of the best CRT (between a HD CRT PVM or BVM) for everything?
@johnnyg8782
@johnnyg8782 10 месяцев назад
I'm confused... there's only ONE crt in this video. Normally though I like 2x 4:3 sets for dual screen games (like PS2 light gun games), 1x turned sideways for Shmups, and a larger widescreen HD for widescreen (which is the one pictured here).

I can barely run Xemu on my PC with an RTX 3060 and with an AMD 5700 processor. PS2 emulator and Wii emulator is the way to go. I am going to try Dead or Alive 3 on my M1 iMac 24 inch but if it crashes there's no hope for this emulator unless you have a M1 Pro or M1 Max. I might return my M2 Mac Mini even PS3 games like Soul Calibur 4 cant run 100%. My PC is only able to handle PS3 Emulation fine but its a bit finicky.
@johnnyg8782
@johnnyg8782 Год назад
Regular Mac M1 seems to run compatible games just fine from what others have said (just note that some games marked as 'compatible' are NOT compatible on Mac, only compatible on PC it seems like...). On my Mac mini M2 Pro the compatible games run perfect (proper 60 FPS or whatnot, game depending) - and my M2 Pro is slower than a M1 Max fyi.... problem is just that games marked as "compatible" should be compatible on BOTH Mac and PC... but some are not (which is why I made this video to show a few which run on PC but not on Mac).

Closest thing available now I could find is the Midwest Industries BGR-45SA-27 (that's 45U like mine, I would suggest 41U if you want a chance for it to fit through normal height house doorways). I paid $130 for mine off Craigslist though, way older model, with 7x included shelves.

Nice! So you've your CRT-C sending commands to the Crosspoint, which in turn relays sizing commands to the RS232-connected 203 Rxi unit?
@johnnyg8782
@johnnyg8782 2 года назад
Not quite. If you check the forum link above you'll see that for the older Crosspoints with black-buttons (which unlike the newer models lack an ethernet port and network connectivity, and don't have a built-in web server either), we're using Extron IP Link boxes (which DO have both ethernet and a built-in web server) to control those older Crosspoints through CRT-C... ...AND since many models of those IP Link boxes happen to have multiple RS232 ports on them... I'm making use of the other ports on the IP Link to control some other things like an Extron RGB box for centering. Have my TVOne Corio2 working off it as well! You can control the newer Crosspoints (w/ white buttons) with the IP Link boxes too fyi (or do it the original way via ethernet).

@@johnnyg8782 thanks for replying. Reading the thread, it seems sourcing the Phoenix-type RS-232 cables is difficult. Was hoping to potentially have an IPL box control a Crosspoint and an RGB 580xi, but the latter only has the Phoenix style connector on it. I can't find any reseller or eBay auctions selling those cables.
@LoSc00

How did you hook RGB up to this - I have the same model (but the N version instead of Delta - afaik the only difference is the shape of the housing) and standard scart cables don't seem to get sync properly. Do you know what the correct pinouts for the SCART and DB9 inputs are?
@johnnyg8782
@johnnyg8782 2 года назад
A regular EU-style (not JP21) PS2 SCART cable hooked up to it no problem - that uses the regular pinout everything does. The DB9 (which I used for this video I believe) I wired myself through trial and error - don't have a pinout for it saved, sorry (it's easy once you find sync and any RGB color though - then find the other colors and you're pretty much done).

My goal is to connect my smartphone (outputting 1080p via HDMI) to a consumer CRT with component inputs in 240p. Is it possible with this device? I also have a VGA to YPbPr transcoder if that would help this process.
@UNOxDExELLOS
@UNOxDExELLOS 2 года назад
I'm curious as to how this setup would look with a smartphone outputting to a consumer CRT with component inputs. For example, a Samsung Galaxy S series phone outputting 1080p HDMI via a USB-C to HDMI adapter > C2-400 > Tendak HDMI to VGA > VGA to YPbPr (component) transcoder. Goal is to emulate old games like the SNES to a crt in 240p from my phone with something like Retroarch. What are your thoughts?

It's really not complicated tbh. All your devices like video game consoles, computer, converters, etc. gets plugged into the input of the Extron Crosspoint Switch. Any monitor/CRT/screen you use gets plugged into the output of the Extron Crosspoint Switch... after that it's just what to do with the mess of wires to keep them manageable (which I use hundreds of zip ties for that ;)

I remembered your video so wanted to come to say (and give you hope), it 100% works for me! I recently got a trisync monitor capable of 480p and have been testing everything out, I was happily playing THOTD3 in progressive scan last night. My setup: - Xbox with component cable (don't know the brand, I got it when the Xbox was current gen, but it is a Y cable with component and composite/s-video options and switch to choose, plus an optical out on the bit that connect to the Xbox) - Retrotink COMP2RGB - gscartsw - SyncSlayer 2 - Well Gardner D9400 - Mad Catz Xbox gun In calibration mode as soon as I point the gun at the screen "Progressive scan" is displayed and it works perfectly (apart from THOTD2 within 3 doesn't respond to the gun at all, but I'm not particularly interested in that as it doesn't run as well as the Dreamcast version; I've noticed graphical glitches and frame stutters).
@johnnyg8782
@johnnyg8782 2 года назад
Don't know what to say... I'm up to I think 3x different Xbox's (want to say 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6), 3x different Mad Catz lightguns (and that weird silent scope one), about 12x different 480p-capable monitors (PVM's, BVM's, PC CRT monitors, 480p video wall monitor, and 3x Sony HDTV CRT's which are really only 540p), 2x different Xbox official YPbPr boxes (and think the Monster cable my buddy had too), a custom N64Freak Frozen VGA Cable w/ LMH1980 set to RGBS (tried RGBHV too), both physical disc + HDD mod of this game, both through my Extron Crosspoint 32x32 matrix switcher and straight to the CRT's too (and with YPbPr to RGBS converter, with RGBHV to RGBS converter, RGBS to YPbPr converter...).... still will NOT work when Xbox is set to 480p in the dashboard (and/or set in XBMC4Gamers modded dash) and I launch this game. But you're NOT the first person who told me this works for them... just still don't know how/why since I've tried so many ways to do this... Does your Wells Gardner tell you which mode it's in? and it's confirmed 480p?

I posted on the Spyderco forums as well and somebody posted months later saying that their (from a new batch I assume as these are out of stock constantly) knife STILL has these issues (actually said his is WORSE than my knife), so the issues have NOT been fixed either... seems like Spyderco simply doesn't care (and that's after the Sal, the owner of Spyderco, posted on that forum topic himself and said how they strive for "Constant Quality Improvement"... which seems to be a lie or those issues would have been fixed you would have thought...

Did I see a Panasonic CRT on the desk? How did you modify the cables to get RGB to initialize on that TV? I think it needs a 5V input on pin 8 or 16 of the SCART, but I'll be damned if I can find a video of anyone doing this. Thanks.
