Welcome to Design and Make, the channel that focuses on teaching people how to do simple woodworking and woodturning. I have enjoyed doing woodworking as a past time and I think it is something fun that everybody can (and should) experience.

Learn to make:
- Pallet wood planters, bird houses and Union Jacks.
- Wooden toys, robots and trains.
- Cutting boards, tables and toolboxes.
- Clocks, hammers and spinning tops.
- Bowls, platters, spheres and mallets
- Reclaimed wooden benches, stools and intricate boxes.
- Kitchen utensils, paperweights and saleable gifts.

If you want to start a new hobby, why not start woodworking. It doesn't require an expensive set up. Get the tools that you need and work with what you have. Usable wood can be found anywhere, in pallets, fallen down trees and even broken furniture.

Does it have the lateral adjustment mechanism or you have to tap with a mallet on the sides?
@DesignandMake

You can adjust everything by hand, no need for a mallet. Hope that helps.

I'm really impressed how much stuff you have managed to fit in such a small area. Keep it up and I'm sure you will have a much bigger workshop in no time. All it takes is dedication and effort. Good luck young man.

Thank you for ur comment and kind words. In terms of projects it depends what u want to make and the tools u have. Boxes are great as they can be as simple or complex as you want. Also small wooden toys or models are fun too. If u have access to a lathe then bowls are very fun. What tools do you have ?

I do use another lathe nowadays. If you look on my channel playlists it will be in the turning playlist. There’s lots of bowls I have made on this AC240WL lathe. Thanks for watching!

Great little workshop and great enthusiasm to pursue your hobby. Like you I started out a few years ago with only an 8x6 shed that has evolved many times as more machines and tools were added. Why don’t you do another video to show how your shed has evolved?
@DesignandMake
@DesignandMake Год назад
Thank you! I no longer have that shed anymore but I have done lots of updated videos on it. I now have a garage workshop which can be seen on the channel. Thanks for watching!

There’s no need to remove the bolts completely on the belt covers, just loosen, lift on turn the plastic plate

Forgive my lack of knowledge but is there a good reason for the access plate to adjust the belts being at the back of the machine? Surely it would be easier at the front. I haven't yet bought a lathe but I'm only 5 minutes from an Axminster store and I'll definitely buy from them. Thanks 👍

This is really good! A lot of the work is made so simple, definitely reminds me, just in case you didn't already know about it that Woody Hyezmar is giving away his woodworking book! Maybe try go'ogling his latest if you’re lucky.

I have a fair few years experience now and have a rather hectic shop as I'm sure you will have in a few years it's good to see younger people still doing Woodworking and a bit of advice for your outside projects would be to use an exterior grade clear coat or resin as it will protect better than Danish oil

That's why everyone who ones one of these (all the different manufacturer versions) keep the side permanently off. Also your platen isn't setup correctly, it needs to be flush with with the belt.
