Finally, I have finished restoring this workbench. I cannot wait to start cutting dovetails and making boxes on it!

Now THAT’s a nice restoration job! I love these kinds of videos. Seeing the process, watching each part get it’s fix and seeing it all come out looking great. Love the finish on it too. Went from almost sea-battered look to a nice rustic antique bench.

Thank you!! I really appreciate the kind words! Yeh it’s bizarre what happened once I put the oil on, as you said it’s got a rustic antique colouring too it. Quite cool! Thanks for watching!!

Well that turned out good! I love the “experienced” appearance of it, and your fixes add another chapter to the story it tells of itself! Two thoughts: The grease that you cleaned off the lead screw of that vise is very beneficial! Cleaning it off was fine, but re-coating it with fresh grease would serve you well! #2: I just completed a project of building several serving trays, and like yours, my bandsaw was too small to cut the bottoms! Hand sawing is an inconvenience for sure, but as Blondiehacks (another fav YT channel!) says, “hand sawing builds character !”! Congrats on your bench and your character building! Ha! Cheers!

Thank you!!! Yeh it’s got a nice colour! And I will add some grease, thanks for reminding me! Hand sawing definitely builds character I had to do it a lot before I had my bandsaw 😀. Thanks for your kind words and for watching!

Well done, you should be proud of yourself. Good to see a young 'un taking on this skill. Only suggestions Id make are you could have tried ageing the drawer front before making it, give it a few hacks with a hammer, chisel and some nails to give it an aged look to match the top. Are you going to take this up as a career ? Ive 15 year old son, Im trying to get interested in these hand skills.

Yes, that would have been a great idea. I am sure with time it will get its aging marks 🤣. I would like to keep it as a hobby/side job as it is what I do to relax. Get him involved he will love it. Thanks for watching!

@@DesignandMake Actually that's a wise decision to keep it as a hobby. I'm a qualified furniture maker, it's hard to make a living from it.Sometimes it's easier to have a job that pays better and keep the woodwork as a hobby. But who k own there's a shortage of crafts people nowadays. Good luck with the hobby...
