Lyrics: You say It’s all of the same old things Maybe the way That you always crawl back to Me babe I can’t get enough Of feeling your love Through me Into me I say “I don’t really wanna stay” And you get real upset Like “you could’ve controlled when You’d break” But I can’t enough Of feeling your love through me You say I’m all of the same old things Maybe the way That you always crawl back to Me babe I can’t get enough Of feeling your love No I can’t get enough Of feeling your love Through me
Came here from the Christian brothers video you shared on Reddit! This is so so good. Really one of the best Elliott covers I’ve seen in a long time. Would love to see more from you.
@@maxthomson11 I appreciate that bro, that really means a lot actually. I’m making an album right now so hopefully I’ll have that out soon, and hopefully it doesn’t sound too much like Elliott lol. Thank you for watching. 🙏
Hey bro, I have been writing songs for a while but only now getting into recording and producing. I really like the sound you're getting, the intimate kind of sound. Was wondering how do you mix the guitars and vocals? Would appreciate if u could shortly explain. Great song. Thanks!
I always double my guitar and vocal tracks. I usually pan the guitars about 40% out of 63% on each side (in logic terms idk about other DAWS). Vocals are usually panned around 15 to 30 depending on what sounds best for the song (the harder the pan, the more “intimate” it gets). I use the stock logic compressors on the guitars same with the vocals (moderate to heavy comp). I’ll also use the J37 tape emulator (or any tape emulator) to add more compression and some reverb on the vocals, as well as a subtle “glue” on the master. Tbh it’s just a lot of trial and error, I’ve been recording my songs since I started writing them around 8 years ago and my recordings STILL aren’t technically good at all. Just mess around with everything that’s at your expense and see what you can come up with. Have fun recording!
OH AND DONT FORGET EQ!!! COMPRESS FIRST THEN EQ!!! That’s very important and something I wish I knew in the beginning. Could’ve saved me many many rages lol.
@@inshambles2 i like the interval from Em to Eb, or whatever key this thing is in. But this uses it quite a few times. i think Elliott uses it at the end of a distorted reality is a necessity to be blah blah blah
@@JoeKenyon i love that you explained it to me lol i have no concept of any theory besides the c and f major scale on piano 😭 i wrote it in d standard with the capo on the 6th, the first chord is the same g shape as in pretty ugly before. i was just playing with that chord until i found the melody line and made the other chords go around it. huge compliment to me that you actually took the time to analyze the chord structure of it, appreciate it brodinski.
@@inshambles2 No worries, though im mostly the same. Have limited music theory knowledge, i know what chords im playing and i know which ones sound good together. No idea how you play all this stuff. let along come up with it, sounds unique. Are these normal chord voicings or are they some crazy ones that you ended up finding, no idea if that makes any sense.
@@JoeKenyon ya i usually just sit around not looking at the neck when i play, until i find something intriguing. for my songs they typically aren’t very standard chords (most of the time they are though). especially this one, that part right before the high string lick is very stretchy and long which is why it strays off tempo so often (i guess i suck at timing sometimes too lol) but also because they are indeed very unusual chords. don’t know why i use chords like that so often but i guess it’s just ma brain cells.
